Oh, boy! As a long-time fan of this delightful series, I must say that the Season 4 finale of Only Murders in the Building had me on the edge of my seat! The intricate plot twists and unexpected turns are what keeps me hooked, and this season did not disappoint.
In the fourth season of Only Murders in the Building, the identity of Sazz Pataki’s killer has been revealed, wrapping up that particular mystery. However, a fresh enigma arises as we are introduced to a new victim, paving the way for the show’s intriguing plot in Season 5.
In “Only Murders in the Building,” our trio – Charles, Oliver, and Mabel – embark on a series of investigations into mysterious deaths occurring within the Arconia building, spanning over nine captivating episodes. The grand finale, episode ten, brings them to the heart-stopping revelation of the murderer’s identity.
Generally, there’s usually a twist at the end, but a fresh killing marks the conclusion of each season, setting up the plot for the next investigation.
In the concluding moments of Season 4, it subtly introduced not one but two enigmas. Moreover, a notable guest appearance graced the screen. To clarify further, beware that the following details may contain spoilers…
Only Murders in the Building Season 5 mystery revealed
Towards the close of Only Murders in the Building’s fourth season, Oliver and Mabel receive an urgent request to locate a missing individual. Just as they are about to embark on this task, they stumble upon the Arconia’s doorman lying dead in the courtyard fountain.
First, the podcasters rejoiced over having apprehended Sazz Pataki’s killer, and then came the wedding of Oliver and Loretta.
But then Charles and Mabel are stopped by a mysterious woman in the hallway, played by Téa Leoni, and says “I want you to find my husband. It’s urgent. My husband is Nicky Caccimelio. Or was if you believe the news. I pay very well.”
Charles clarifies that they exclusively investigate murders within the structure. To this, the enigmatic woman replies, “Nicky’s case is deeply connected to this very place.” She then identifies herself as Sofia and suggests they contact her should they reconsider their stance.
Only Murders showrunner teases mobster storyline in S5
Sofia Caccimelio references an earlier, fleeting mention from Season 4’s second-to-last episode through a televised narrative.
In conversation with Deadline, John Hoffman, the creator of Only Murders, explains: “She’s similar to the small news report mentioned in Episode 9 that Mabel takes note of at the hospital. [Sofia] is presumably the wife of the Dry Cleaning King of Brooklyn and potentially a few dry cleaning outlets in Manhattan too, as we might discover later.
Moreover, it presents an unexplored realm, not extensively discussed in New York, which makes her all the more fascinating.
Hoffman hints at the possibility of a link between Oliver’s struggles with funding his productions and suggests, “Perhaps there’s an overlap there. It’s conceivable that risks might be associated with offering assistance.
Who dies at the end of Season 4?
It looks like we’ve got enough here to kick off Season 5. However, there’s still a surprising turn of events: The trio discovers Lester, the doorman, deceased in the building’s fountain.
On Oliver’s wedding day, as everyone was rejoicing that no one had passed away, they spotted Lester sitting in the water, with it turning red due to his bleeding.
It’s logical because Sofia claimed she managed to gain entry to the building without prior notice since there was no one at the door. This implies that Season 5 will present two mysteries for the Only Murders team to delve into – the disappearance of Nicky Caccimelio and the demise of Lester, the Doorman.
