It’s time to check out of the White Lotus — but some guests are leaving in bodybags.
In the final episode of Season 3 on HBO’s “White Lotus,” the mystery of the gunfire heard in the first scene is unveiled, along with the unfortunate characters who don’t return home. By the end, Rick (Walton Goggins), Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood), and Jim (Scott Glenn) all meet their untimely deaths during a chaotic shootout. It’s disclosed that Jim is actually Rick’s father, and his comment about Rick’s mother triggers Rick’s rage, leading to him shooting Jim, which in turn sets off a gunfight with Jim’s guards. In an unexpected act of valor, the bumbling security guard Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) saves the day by shooting Rick. Sadly, Chelsea meets her end during the crossfire, and her fate may have been hinted at earlier when she cheated death in the jewelry store robbery and snake bite incidents. It’s revealed that their lives were destined to be connected, and they will spend eternity together — in the afterlife.
The Ratliff family narrowly escaped disaster, as everyone remains safe – for now. As Timothy’s (Jason Isaacs) psychological breakdown escalates, he considers creating a toxic smoothie to eliminate his family, sparing them from suffering following an FBI investigation into his illicit business activities. He utilizes Saxon’s (Patrick Schwarzenegger) blender to craft a lethal pong-pong fruit blend, but before his family members consume it, Timothy undergoes a change of heart and knocks their glasses from their hands. However, Lochlan (Sam Nivola) wakes up the next day and decides to prepare a smoothie using the remnants of the mixture his father had made. Unaware of its fatal nature, he drinks it and collapses near the pool, appearing to have perished – but in the end, it’s disclosed that he survives and experiences a vision of God and his family. They return home on a boat, but their lives are about to be turned upside down as the FBI pursues Timothy relentlessly.
Below, witness the experiences of various characters on “The White Lotus,” such as Jaclyn, Kate, Laurie, Belinda, Zion, and others.
Rick
Following an insult from Jim towards his mother, a deep-seated anger overtakes Rick, leading him to believe that Jim – whom he thought responsible for his father’s death – was slain. However, in a shocking turn of events, it is later disclosed that Jim is none other than Rick’s own father. As the tension escalates and Rick fires at Jim, the long-anticipated gunfight breaks loose. Tragically, Chelsea is struck during the crossfire and succumbs to her injuries. In the climactic scene, Gaitok takes aim and ends Rick’s life.
Chelsea
It seems that unfortunate events often come in sets of three. Following her survival from a jewelry store robbery and a venomous snake bite, Chelsea tragically met the same end as Rick during a shootout. This occurred shortly after she had expressed a profound belief that she and Rick were soulmates destined to be together forever.
Lochlan
Initially, Lochlan decides to remain in Thailand instead of attending Duke or University of North Carolina. However, a close call with death occurs when he accidentally uses a blender containing residue from poisonous fruit, unaware of its presence. After drinking the concoction, he collapses near the pool and experiences vivid visions of his family and Buddhist monks. Miraculously, Lochlan recovers from this near-fatal smoothie incident and is revived in his father’s arms. Ultimately, Lochlan does not continue to reside in Thailand but returns home with his loved ones.
Saxon
After their extremely uncomfortable “brotherly bonding” incident in bed, things remained tense between Saxon and Lochlan. At the conclusion of the episode, Saxon departed with his family, unaware that his professional life and future were on the brink of collapse upon his return, due to the FBI allegations against his father.
Piper
Following a wretched night at the monastery, Piper reconsiders her choice to remain in Thailand for spiritual guidance from monks, pleasing her mother immensely. Upon returning home with her family, she remains unaware that her life in America is on the brink of change due to her father’s FBI investigation.
Timothy and Victoria
Throughout the season, Timothy found himself plagued by thoughts of suicide and harming others because of the FBI’s investigation into his business. On their final night, he almost contaminated everyone’s piña coladas with a lethal dose, excluding Lochlan. At the very last moment, he regained consciousness and knocked the glasses from their hands. The next morning, Lochlan prepared a protein smoothie, which caused him to collapse outside, but the amount wasn’t enough to be fatal. During their journey home on the boat, Timothy hinted that changes were imminent, without disclosing the entire FBI situation to his family.
Jaclyn, Kate and Laurie
At the White Lotus, Kate, Jaclyn, and Laurie faced numerous trials that strained their friendship. Following an emotional farewell meal, they managed to move past the uncomfortable incidents during their getaway, ultimately maintaining their friendship.
Jim and Sritala
Following a visit from Rick and Frank at their residence in Bangkok, Sritala and Jim head back to the White Lotus, where they insist Rick leaves the property. After an offensive comment about his mother from Jim, Rick reaches his breaking point and fires shots at him. In a shocking twist, Sritala then discloses that Jim was actually Rick’s father all along.
Gaitok and Mook
In a turn of events, Gaitok is presented with an opportunity to make amends following his unsuccessful effort to apprehend the robbers earlier in the series, however, this situation leads to him accidentally shooting Rick. Initially, it appeared that his relationship with Mook was strained when she declined his dinner invitation after he mentioned quitting his security job. Yet, by the end of the storyline, Gaitok lands a position as one of Sritala’s security guards, and Mook gives her approval.
Belinda and Zion
Through a secret payoff from Greg, Belinda and Zion concluded the season with a $5 million windfall. At one point, it appeared they might not escape unscathed following Greg’s bribe to keep quiet about his ex-wife Tanya’s demise. However, Belinda had her son with her during negotiations, which ultimately led to a more advantageous agreement. Rather than accepting $100,000, Zion managed to persuade Greg to part with $5 million – an amount that should comfortably fund the establishment of her own spa and possibly ensure she’ll never again set foot in another White Lotus.
Greg
After paying Belinda $100,000 in hush money regarding the death of his ex-wife Tanya, Greg (or possibly Gary) later transfers $5 million to her. In return, Belinda swears never to encounter Greg again. Additionally, it appears that Greg’s erotic desire for Chloe is fulfilled as she selects a partner for intimacy while he can observe the act.
