‘Whiplash’ to Screen With Live Jazz Band Led by Justin Hurwitz at Beverly Hills Concerts (EXCLUSIVE)

As a movie critic who has spent years immersed in the world of cinema, I must say that “Whiplash” is not just another film; it’s a symphony of emotions, passion, and raw talent. The news of its 10th anniversary celebration at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, complete with a live concert by Justin Hurwitz and his 18-piece jazz band, has my drumsticks tapping with excitement.

“Whiplash” is headed to Beverly Hills.

To mark the 10-year milestone of the film, “Whiplash: In Concert,” led by Academy Award-winning musician Justin Hurwitz, is set to premiere on November 9 and 10 at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills

Under the guidance of Hurwitz, an 18-member jazz band will perform during a screening of the classic film. In an interview with EbMaster, Hurwitz expressed his continued pride in being associated with Damien’s intense and thought-provoking film. To commemorate Whiplash’s 10th anniversary, he is thrilled to be conducting this live jazz band in a renowned Los Angeles theater. Fans can anticipate an exhilarating experience as they watch the movie while listening to the music and breathtaking drum solos being played live on stage for the very first time

Visitors can look forward to a well-stocked bar offering unique cocktails, along with snacks and food trucks, at the Saban Theatre. Tickets for general admission are now up for grabs, ranging from $42 onwards, while premium tickets cost between $95 and $155. Please note that only a limited number of tickets will be sold at the door for each performance time

Under the guidance of director Damien Chazelle, this movie chronicles Miles Teller’s journey as a driven young drummer who joins a prestigious music academy with the goal of impressing his ruthless instructor, Terrence Fletcher (portrayed by J.K. Simmons). Fletcher pushes his pupil relentlessly to unlock their hidden potential, creating a tense relationship that is further emphasized through a powerful and varied musical score and soundtrack. These elements underscore the difficulties of mastering music at an elite level

The movie received nominations for five Academy Awards and eventually took home three wins, among them the categories of Best Sound Mixing, Best Film Editing, and Best Supporting Actor (won by Simmons)

Apart from the ongoing concert series, the movie “Whiplash” is set to return to theaters on September 20, commemorating its 10-year anniversary
