While Bethesda celebrates The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion’s 19th birthday with a “Happy Anniversary” post, fans of the RPG had more in mind: “It would be perfect to… announce something”

As a dedicated fan, I’m eagerly waiting for an official confirmation from Bethesda Game Studios about the rumored remake of their timeless masterpiece, The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, which was first released 19 years ago. Despite all the leaks swirling around, there’s still no definite word on a new release.

20 years ago, on March 20th, Oblivion made its debut. Yesterday marked its 19th birthday, a milestone recognized by Bethesda in an online post. “Happy Anniversary to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion,” the studio wrote, expressing gratitude for their shared experiences. Although Bethesda isn’t overlooking the significance of this date and is celebrating Oblivion’s special day with the Elder Scrolls community, fans had hoped for a more substantial celebration.

This past month, whispers about a possible remake of Oblivion have been circulating, and it’s understandable that longtime Elder Scrolls players were hoping for some news on the 19th anniversary of the fourth entry. The comments under Bethesda’s celebratory post show this anticipation, as fans gather to speculate about a potential remake. One comment reads, “It would be ideal to… announce something,” accompanied by a gif expressing suspicion.

A commenter says, “Let’s redo it,” accompanied by a wink emoji. Elsewhere, a fan suggests, “Today could be perfect for unveiling the remaster.” However, Bethesda hasn’t responded or provided any information about a remake since yesterday’s post – which has left many Elder Scrolls enthusiasts disappointed (I’m one of them). If they do announce one, though, it’s likely to be a significant project.
