As a seasoned gamer with countless hours under my belt, I can’t help but appreciate the thrill of discovering new weapons and embarking on exciting quests in Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn. And let me tell you, the Blunderbuss side quest, “Lost to Battle,” is one that truly stood out for me.
As a gamer in the world of Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, I’ve come across various guns during my adventure so far. But nothing compares to the unique experience of obtaining and using the Blunderbuss. To get your hands on this powerful weapon, you just need to embark on a brief side quest that I’ll help guide you through.
Lost to Battle Walkthrough – Flintlock Siege of Dawn
To start the “Lost to Battle” side quest, first go to the campsite prior to engaging in battle with the Revenant boss. If you haven’t yet, activate the campsite which will bring your friend Baz to you (1). Speak with him there, and he’ll share that some Coalition deserters attacked him and stole his cherished Blunderbuss. Clearly, this cannot be tolerated, so it’s time for you to mete out swift revenge.
As I approach the entrance of this town (2), I can feel a sense of unease creeping in. I push forward, determined to press on. But beware, there are hordes of spiders and undead lurking around every corner. I need to stay focused and agile, keep moving and avoid getting surrounded.
As I make my way along this trek, I’ll encounter a sizable gap that I’ll have to leap over. Further down the path, there will be a steep cliff with some protruding ledges on the other side. Be cautious not to underestimate the length of my jump, and aim for the nearest ledge. Once I’ve made it up and around, I’ll discover the entrance to the hidden mine where the deserters sought refuge.
Go ahead and proceed in that direction, then continue moving forward. At the end of this path, you’ll find a spot where you can take a break. Don’t forget to engage with it before using it as your respawn location.
In the mine ahead, you’ll encounter a few spiders and a considerable number of undead. Be mindful that their compact quarters can lead to being swamped if you linger for too long. Keep advancing through the mine and don’t forget to grab the Breaching Barrel located near a destroyed elevator on your journey.
Use the barrel obstructing your way as a guide, and you’ll eventually reach a large, open cavern. You’ll overhear one of the deserters muttering to themselves in this area, near death and guarding another passage blocked by yet another barrel. Approach and talk to the deserter (2) to obtain the Blunderbuss, after which they’ll disappear. Find the Breaching Barrel (1) located at the back left corner of the room.
Using the breaching barrel will bring a large number of undead pouring in, acting as a single health bar for this boss-like horde. The encounter isn’t particularly challenging, but you must keep moving at all times to avoid being overwhelmed. If the horde manages to surround you, it could mean the end of the game. Luckily, the Blunderbuss is an excellent weapon for such situations, so make sure to use it generously and unleash a barrage of buckshot upon the undead.
After taking care of things there, feel free to return to Baz’s location. You have the option to quickly travel or engage with the hostile creatures en route as a diversion. Complete the quest by conversing with him, but rest assured, he won’t take the Blunderbuss back from you.
In scenarios where numerous adversaries are present, the Blunderbuss shines due to its expansive impact zone, albeit dealing less potent damages in total. Additionally, this weapon comes with a significant delay between shots, making it less effective for quick succession parries during gunfights.
