In my gaming world, there’s a rhythm to every Monster Hunter adventure. I’d select a quest from the menu, decide on the perfect gear setup, scarf down some grub, and then dive into the hunt. This pattern, starting from the hub and venturing out to various locales for the hunt, has always been the norm. However, Monster Hunter Wilds has shaken things up a bit.
With Pop-Up Camps at your disposal, you gain the freedom to hunt in any location and at any time, as they eliminate the need for frequent trips back to Base Camp for resupplying. However, it’s essential to locate a suitable spot for these camps, as they can’t be placed randomly. The Ruins of Wyveria hide many such spots, making your search an exciting adventure!
What Are Pop-Up Camps?
As a camper, Pop-Up Camps serve much the same purpose as my own tent would back at any regional base camp. I can embark on hunts, adjust my gear, prepare meals, and do plenty more. The only amenities not available here are those unique to the base camp, like Gemma’s smithing station and the Provisions Stockpile.
There are two ways to set up a Pop-Up Camp, which are:
- Speaking with the Felyne in charge of Pop-Up Camps in each Base Camp, and setting them up from the various locations you have discovered.
- Setting them up yourself in the world by visiting the various locations and using the portable Camp set-up kit to call in a Felyne duo to create one immediately.
In case you’ve hit the maximum number of Pop-Up Camps allowed in a particular region, you need to delete existing ones from Base Camp before establishing new ones.
In the Forbidden Lands, you’re not alone in your explorations, and several of these creatures aren’t too fond of human presence on their territories. Consequently, any monster encountering your campsite will be inclined towards its destruction. If such an incident occurs, you’ll either need to wait for the camp to repair itself naturally or spend some Guild Points to get it fixed immediately.
How Many Pop-Up Camps Are There In The Ruins Of Wyveria?

In many areas, there are more Pop-Up Camps than regulations permit. As you progress to later regions, these camps tend to decrease in number. Interestingly, both the Ruins of Wyveria and the Iceshard Cliffs hold the lowest count of Pop-Up Camps, with seven each.
These camps are exceptionally discreet, ensuring they are always safe from any potential monster attacks. A small comfort for the challenge of locating them.
Every Ruins Of Wyveria Pop-Up Camp Location
Among the seven Pop-Up camps nestled within the Ruins of Wyveria, two have been intentionally established as part of the narrative, while the remaining five await your own exploration. Some of them are relatively accessible, but others may require a more deliberate search. With that in mind, here’s some guidance to help you embark on your discovery journey.
Area 2: Crumbling Structures

- Safety – Safe
In Area 2, you’ll initially gain access to the first camp. You receive it automatically upon entering the Ruins of Wyveria during the narrative.
Area 6: Secluded Ruins

- Safety – Safe
This camp is located in Area 6 at the northern extremity, but it’s somewhat secluded. To reach this appropriately named campsite, you’ll need to navigate a series of vines that form a staircase through a narrow passageway.
Area 6: Remnant Grove

- Safety – Dangerous
This camp is located directly in the heart of Area 6, nestled under the massive branches of the towering white tree that Alma often remarks about.
Area 6: Southeast

- Safety – Safe
The camp you’re referring to is situated secretively in the south-eastern tip of Area 6, camouflaged along a narrow trail that only those skilled enough to traverse it, the Secret Ones, can manage, as this path follows the course of the flowing water.
Area 8: Gap In Rubble

- Safety – Safe
This camp is situated within Area 8, as you make your way down the winding path towards where the Guardians are formed. It’s hidden inside a modest gap amidst the debris, which leads to a cave that extends and eventually reconnects with Area 8 at its other end.
You can also go fishing for some rare aquatic life here.
Area 9: Entangled Canopy

- Safety – Safe
You’ll find this location deeper along the spiral, specifically in Sector 9. Just like before, you can access it via the Secret Passage. However, since it’s a key part of the narrative, you won’t be able to overlook it.
Area 13: Hidden Cave

- Safety – Safe
As you step into Area 13, you’ll notice a drainpipe adorned with vine tendrils, which serves as a climbing aid. This is your entrypoint to discover the Secret Cavern, offering a breathtaking panorama of the Landspine.
