As we’ve reached mid-year 2025, it seems like the ideal moment to touch base about Crimson Desert – the single-player open-world game developed by the same team behind Black Desert Online, which was initially unveiled in 2019. We received a broad release window last year, but with late 2025 fast approaching, have we finally managed to pin down an exact launch date?
Everything we know about Crimson Desert release date
During The Game Awards 2024, Pearl Abyss unveiled a fresh Crimson Desert gameplay trailer brimming with boss battles, wyvern-flying, smooth combat sequences, and extensive open-world exploration. Notably, it set the game’s launch schedule: A release in Q4 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
After that point, things have remained relatively calm, with only the BlackSpace Engine presentation at GDC in March as an exception. However, on June 12th, we were treated to another look at a new gameplay video during Summer Game Fest.
In simple terms, this video lasts about 90 seconds, which might be why everyone’s feeling antsy. After all, we haven’t received any updates regarding the release date, and the uncertainty has caused some concern that there could be further delays.
I’m absolutely thrilled to share some exciting news! On June 17th, a South Korean site MTN published an article where Pearl Abyss confirmed that Crimson Desert will be launched on November 2nd, 2025. Fingers crossed for the official global announcement soon!
Crimson Desert’s engine has me hyped
It’s clear that everyone is eagerly anticipating trying out this game to witness firsthand what the innovative engine, BlackSpace, has in store for us, especially given its role in Crimson Desert and other upcoming titles. I can hardly wait to find out how this technological wonder will contribute to our gaming experience, particularly with regards to its highly acclaimed next-gen water effects, remarkable hair physics, and unique object interactions during combat sequences.
It’s intriguing to observe what the developers will ultimately bring to the table given that this game has been in development for quite some time now and underwent significant transformations. Originally conceived as a multiplayer prequel to Black Desert Online, Crimson Desert was later redefined by the studio to offer a solo-play experience in 2020.
Pearl Abyss is holding onto the possibility of incorporating multiplayer elements in the future, much like Rockstar Games did with Grand Theft Auto Online. While they’ve hinted at potential cooperative modes and large-scale conflicts, specific plans have not been finalized as of now.
