Wheel of Time Season 3 Kills Logain’s Best Storyline!

Warning: Spoilers for The Wheel of Time season 3, episode 8

The demise of Siuan Sanche carries heavy consequences for Logain Ablar’s narrative within “The Wheel of Time.” Given the nature of Robert Jordan’s “Wheel of Time” series, it was expected that season 3 would see a somber conclusion to Siuan’s tale. However, the show surpassed the original material by depicting her immediate execution following her stilling, an event that in the fourth book, “The Shadow Rising,” did not occur until she had been stilled by the Aes Sedai.

Suan’s fate is bound to create ripples across the series, given her substantial and significant role that extended well past “The Shadow Rising.” This development not only removes a wealth of potential storylines for forthcoming seasons but also significantly alters the trajectories of numerous pivotal “Wheel of Time” characters, such as Egwene al’Vere, Leane Sharif, Verin Mathwin, Elaida (the one who killed her), and even Logain, whose promising future is now uncertain following Suan’s altered destiny.

Siuan Sanche’s Death Blocked The Show From Delivering A Great Logain Moment

After her dismissal as Amyrlin Seat, Siuan’s imprisonment, and undergoing stilling, she encountered Logain in a cell. This suspenseful conclusion paved the way for their escape endeavor in the subsequent novel, The Fires of Heaven. The story resumed from where The Shadow Rising ended, with Siuan, Logain, Leane, and Min Farshaw breaking free from the White Tower. They embarked on an adventure together which served as a foundation for the rebellion arc in the Wheel of Time books, ultimately leading Siuan and Leane to assume crucial roles in the Aes Sedai rebel organization situated in Salidar.

Given the current plotline of the show, it was logical to expect that Season 3 might follow a similar path. This is because, at this point in the storyline, the character of Logain is being held by the Aes Sedai, much like in the series. So, it’s plausible that Season 3 could have concluded with an intriguing cliffhanger. In this scenario, Siuan’s final scene might have depicted her staring intently at a smug Logain as she grappled with the distressing truth unfolding before her eyes.

It’s intriguing that this approach could have reintroduced Logain to the plot, creating a captivating narrative for these two characters. Sadly, he was entirely absent from season 3, and it appears that there are no signs yet of his importance resurfacing in season 4.

The Wheel Of Time Would Struggle To Replace Siuan In Logain’s Arc

In the upcoming storyline of The Wheel of Time, while it’s unlikely that a shared adventure between two specific characters will unfold as initially planned, there remains a possibility that Logain may break free from the White Tower soon. This plot twist, if executed, could still occur, albeit challenging to replicate given another character stepping into Siuan’s role. It’s Siuan’s significance within the story that would have made this situation intriguing for season 4 of The Wheel of Time. As the Amyrlin Seat, Siuan is instrumental in decisions made by the Aes Sedai, including the taming of Logain.

Sharing company between Siuan and Logain could have offered rich narrative possibilities, given their complex history. To Logain, Siuan represents the source of much suffering, while to Siuan, Logain is the False Dragon who mercilessly took the lives of Aes Sedai under her command. Under ordinary circumstances, they would be bitter adversaries. An alliance between Logain and any stilled Aes Sedai would undoubtedly have underlying tensions, but it pales in comparison to the partnership of Logain with the once-powerful Amyrlin Seat, whose fall from grace would likely bring Logain a sense of satisfaction.

If Siuan had been partnered with Logain, it would have provided some intriguing character development opportunities for her in season 4. Although she was originally from poverty, she hasn’t faced such difficulties since becoming the Amyrlin Seat. Being forced to rely on someone who openly wishes for her death would certainly present a significant dramatic hurdle for her character to overcome.

What Siuan Sanche’s Death Means For Logain’s Story

The demise of Siuan Sanche significantly impacts the possibilities for Logain’s future within “The Wheel of Time,” yet despite his absence from season 3, there remains a strong likelihood of his return. However, this indicates a potential decrease in significance for him in any potential adaptation of “The Fires of Heaven.” The novel extensively explores Siuan’s group as they journeyed away from the White Tower, ultimately reaching Salidar to initiate the Aes Sedai rebellion storyline in “Lord of Chaos.

In simpler terms, the rebellion is still expected to occur as part of the overall plot, but by eliminating Siuan, the show may choose to minimize its focus. Instead, the events leading up to the rebellion might unfold behind the scenes rather than being a major storyline spanning multiple episodes or seasons. As a result, many parts of Logain’s story could potentially be omitted, given that key characters like Siuan and Min are no longer present, leaving only Logain and Leane as potential main characters for this particular narrative.

It’s possible that Logain won’t play a significant role in the story until it reaches the Black Tower plotline in “The Wheel of Time”. In “Lord of Chaos”, Rand al’Thor established the Black Tower as a base for his group of male channelers. As time passed, this attracted the notice of Logain, who eventually joined forces with Rand. It seems that it could be around this point when Logain becomes more prominent in the narrative.
