Filming for the fifth season of Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has temporarily stopped, but there’s still plenty happening with the cast. While Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules ramped up production after the recent scandal, that hasn’t been the approach with this show. In addition to a domestic violence investigation involving star Taylor Frankie Paul, there are two divorces on the horizon, a cast member moving to New York City to pursue her career as a ‘MomToker’, and a few other updates. The big question is whether this cast’s online presence can withstand all the changes. Here’s the latest information.

Is The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives canceled?

Production on the show is currently paused, and it’s unclear if it will continue. TMZ reports that, alongside a police investigation in Utah, the production company, Jeff Jenkins Productions, is also conducting its own investigation. According to the report, the show’s future is uncertain, even if Taylor Frankie Paul doesn’t return. Hulu originally ordered two seasons with a total of 20 episodes last year. Season four premiered on March 12th, and filming for season five began earlier this year.

Why was The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives paused?

Filming for season five of the show was put on hold on March 16th after police in Draper City, Utah, began investigating a domestic violence incident involving cast members Paul and Dakota Mortensen, which occurred in late February. According to a source who spoke to People magazine, Taylor Frankie Paul is dealing with some serious personal issues, and production will remain paused until those are resolved. This news came shortly before her season of The Bachelorette was cancelled.

Mikayla Matthews explained on Instagram on March 19th that she and the other women on the show collectively decided to stop filming because they weren’t comfortable with what was going on. Jessi Draper later confirmed on Call Her Daddy that production is still on hold. She said everyone is focusing on their personal lives right now and wants to address those issues before returning to the show, hinting that if they do come back for another season, it will be filled with interesting content.

What about the spinoff?

The Orange County edition of SLOMW is currently being filmed. Rumor has it there will be eight new cast members, along with Jen Affleck, a popular personality from the original ‘MomTok’ community. It seems Matthew is already in California, which suggests the show might be able to continue successfully even with a move to the West Coast.
