Simply put, South Park is here to stay! The show kicked off its 27th season with a shocking and highly-watched premiere, including a bold message from the President. And things have been wild ever since.
After a spooky Halloween episode, a new South Park episode is coming soon, and it promises to be great! Here’s where and when you can tune in.
South Park Season 28 Episode 3 release date & time
The third episode of South Park’s 28th season will premiere on Comedy Central on Wednesday, November 12th at 10 PM Eastern Time and 9 PM Central Time. It will be available to stream on Paramount Plus starting November 13th at 6 AM Eastern Time and 3 AM Pacific Time.
Originally, Season 27 was expected to have ten episodes, making this new installment the eighth one. But when the sixth episode became available on October 15th, it was surprisingly labeled as the first episode of Season 28.
A spokesperson clarified to The Hollywood Reporter that the intention all along was to release Seasons 27 and 28 with five episodes each. The earlier announcement that Season 27 would have ten episodes was apparently an error.
How many episodes are there?

Season 28 will have five episodes, bringing the total number of new South Park episodes from the last two seasons to ten.
Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and the South Park team work incredibly quickly, completing each episode – from writing the script to adding animation and voiceovers – in just a few days. This fast pace lets them react to and comment on current events almost immediately.
This approach keeps the story and details a secret until the very end. But, we now know the title and a brief description for Season 28, Episode 3, and you can find that information, along with details about other recent episodes, below.

- Season 28 Episode 1 – ’Twisted Christian’
- “Cartman is possessed and may be the key to stopping the Antichrist.”

Why has South Park been delayed?

If the current season had followed the same plan as the previous one, the latest episode would have aired on September 10th. What caused the delay?
After a two-week break following the first episodes of Season 27, the show moved to a new release schedule of every other week. This change was made to give the creators more time to work, as each episode is produced quickly to reflect current events.
After those episodes, there was a three-week break before new episodes of Season 27 continued. During that time, several major news stories emerged, including the passing of Charlie Kirk, which led Comedy Central to remove a South Park episode referencing him, and a debate over Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension.
Delays were not unexpected, but rumors spread that the project faced possible censorship, particularly after the issue with Jimmy Kimmel and because the merger between Paramount and Skydance needed government approval.
Stone told The Denver Post that the episode wasn’t pulled or censored in any way. He emphasized they would have spoken up if that had happened, but simply ran out of time to finish it. He admitted it was a result of waiting until the last minute, and sometimes that leads to mistakes.

The show is now releasing new episodes every two weeks. Here are the dates for the rest of Season 28:
- Season 28 Episode 3 – November 12
- Season 28 Episode 4 – November 26
- Season 28 Episode 5 – December 10
What is the new South Park episode about?

In Season 28, Episode 3, the show returns to South Park Elementary. Butters is behind a troubling scheme involving artificial intelligence and the creation of revenge porn.
Kyle predicts a plan will fail spectacularly, and Butters asks what will happen. The scene then cuts to Butter focusing her attention on Red following a previous issue, with her friends encouraging her to report the situation to the principal.
Okay, so in this episode, Butters tries to get back at someone, but his plan totally blows up in his face. It ends up causing this huge wave of fake videos at school, and honestly, it’s messing with Detective Harris’s head – he can’t even figure out what’s real anymore!
The episode title, ‘Sora Not Sorry,’ demonstrates Parker and Stone’s knack for staying relevant. It appeared shortly after OpenAI’s Sora 2 was used to make AI-generated versions of South Park episodes.

Sora 2 allowed people to easily create content that copied existing works, and OpenAI reacted by blocking the creation of South Park-related images.
However, the show plans to satirize this trend by having Butters use an AI program to get revenge, and the resulting storyline is expected to be surprisingly dark.
The trailer sparked a lot of online discussion, including jokes about the character Butters going through a phase where he feels resentful and isolated. One commenter said Butters’ actions were rare instances where he actually deserved to be punished.
One person believes Butters started behaving like an ‘incel’ after Charlotte broke up with him in Season 20. Another joked that Butters will be in big trouble when his parents find out about whatever happened.
