What The Hell Is Going On With Ubisoft? | Spot On

As a veteran gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment and concern when it comes to Ubisoft’s recent decisions. The closure of the team behind Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown feels like a step backward for a company that has consistently delivered high-quality gaming experiences.

This week, there was an internal change at Ubisoft, the company known for games like Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, and Far Cry. Despite positive feedback for their latest Prince of Persia game, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, they disbanded the team responsible for it. Abdelhak Elguess, senior producer of The Lost Crown, confirmed this to TopMob, saying that “most of the team members who worked on Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown are now working on other projects that will utilize their skills.” While Elguess mentioned that Ubisoft isn’t completely abandoning the series, it seems unlikely that the original team will come together for a sequel.

In this episode of Spot On, Tam and Lucy delve into the recent decisions made by the game studio, a sequence of actions that include unexpected alterations to the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and a prolonged silence regarding upcoming titles like the Splinter Cell Remake and Beyond Good and Evil 2. They explore the implications of these moves for the studio’s future.
