The second season of “Poker Face” concludes with lie detector expert Charlie (played by Natasha Lyonne) heading to Wichita, Kansas. However, viewers might be wondering if they’ll get a chance to tag along. Despite being one of Peacock’s most talked-about originals, the network has yet to announce whether it will renew the show for a third season. Created by Rian Johnson, who also made “Knives Out,” this series boasts distinctive sets and locations for each episode, and features an impressive array of guest stars including Cynthia Erivo, Kumail Nanjiani, and Melanie Lynskey. Given its high production costs, one might assume that ratings would be strong. While “Poker Face” made it into the Nielsen streaming top ten during the week of May 5 through 11, with a viewership of 497 million minutes, it has not been in the top ten since its premiere on May 8.

Despite wrapping up with a suspenseful twist, the final episode of this series leaves viewers eagerly waiting for what’s next. It ends dramatically with an apparent cliffhanger: Patti Harrison’s character, Alex, seemingly drives both herself and Charlie off the Grand Canyon edge after exposing her fabricated identity (a seeming contradiction given her human lie detector status). The scene freezes, reminiscent of “Thelma & Louise,” as the car hurtles over the cliff. However, the footage reverses to reveal that Charlie miraculously escapes by rolling out of the car at the last second, while Alex falls to what appears to be her doom. Charlie then hitchhikes to Wichita, but upon Agent Annie’s inspection of the car, it’s empty – leading one to wonder where the elusive Charlie is hiding. If a show boasts more of Patti Harrison’s captivating performance as Alex, fans will undoubtedly be pleased. Grant us another season of Alex!
