Whac-A-Mole Film in Development From Mattel and TriStar Pictures

Mattel and TriStar Pictures are working together to produce a unique blend of live-action and animation, centered around the popular Whac-A-Mole game created by Mattel.

Whac-A-Mole is not just a game; it’s an uproarious test of quick reflexes that has brought laughter and a touch of mayhem to households for fifty years,” remarked Robbie Brenner, president of Mattel Films. “We can hardly contain our excitement as we join forces with TriStar Pictures to transform this beloved pastime into a thrilling, high-octane adventure on the big screen.

TriStar Pictures president Nicole Brown stated that Mattel’s films continue to make an impression, and Whac-A-Mole is no different – it’s a timeless brand that has been part of our culture for many years. We are eager to collaborate with them to offer viewers a new, surprising interpretation of this beloved classic.

The supervision of the project will be shared between Elizabeth Bassin and Steve Spohr from Mattel Films, and Shary Shirazi and Kelseigh Coombs from TriStar Pictures.

The toy company is also working on other ventures, such as a movie based on He-Man titled “Masters of the Universe” and another project called “Matchbox.

The film adaptation of Mattel Films’ “Masters of the Universe,” titled “Masters of the Universe,” is currently being filmed in London. Travis Knight is serving as director for this project, while the cast includes Nicholas Galitzine portraying He-Man, Alison Brie playing Evil-Lyn, Camila Mendes taking on the role of Teela, Jared Leto stepping into Skeletor’s shoes, and Idris Elba assuming the dual roles of Duncan and Man-At-Arms. This film is slated to hit theaters globally on June 5, 2026, and is produced by Amazon MGM Studios.
