WGA East Elects 13 New Council Members

As a seasoned writer who has witnessed the evolution of the media landscape over the past few decades, I am thrilled to see the new faces joining the Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) council in 2024. The diversity and experience these newly elected members bring will undoubtedly contribute to the continued success and growth of our industry.


The Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) unveiled the outcomes of their 2024 council election, choosing 13 fresh faces for their leadership group.

The council is made up of 20 individuals, divided into four groups: 12 members who work in the film, television, or streaming industry; five who specialize in online media; three who work in broadcast, cable, or streaming news; and five officers (the president, secretary-treasurer, and three vice presidents) each representing a specific work sector. This election has vacancies for one vice president from online media, one from broadcast/cable/streaming news, six positions within the film/TV/streaming industry, two in online media, and three in broadcast/cable/streaming news.

Sara David was chosen as Vice President of the Digital Media Division. Beth Godvik was selected as Vice President of the News Broadcasting, Cable, and Streaming Sector. Monica Lee Bellais, Larry J Cohen, Don P. Hooper, Victoria Pollack, Celine Robinson, and Suzanne Weber were elected council members for the Film, Television, and Streaming Group. Susan Rinkunas and Jessica Schulberg were chosen to represent Online Media Members. Lastly, Justin DiLauro, Gail Lee, and Phil Pilato were selected as representatives for the News Broadcasting, Cable, and Streaming News Sector.

Council members from the WGAE who have a year remaining in their terms are President Lisa Takeuchi Cullen, Secretary-Treasurer Christopher Kyle, along with film, television, and streaming representatives Sofia Alvarez, Josh Gondelman, Liz Hynes, Greg Iwinski, Sarah Montana, and Sasha Stewart. Additionally, the online media sector is represented by Caitlin Cruz, Sie Morley, and Samantha Smylie.
