“We’ve hit a real sweet spot with Starfield”: For All Its Flaws, Todd Howard Needs to Bring the Only Thing Starfield Got Right to Elder Scrolls 6

Bethesda showcased Starfield as their grand masterpiece, but when the game launched in 2023, it found itself entangled in controversies. Players felt they had been deceived by Todd Howard’s appealing promises, and the RPG failed to live up to the studio’s claims.

Gamers felt that Starfield was nothing but a shallow open-world universe that lacked a soul. While the game was filled with issues such as infinite loading screens, lack of promised features, and whatnot, it still managed to nail one feature that Elder Scrolls 6 must bring.

Elder Scrolls 6 can actually learn from Starfield

Right before the release of Starfield, Kinda Funny Games got the opportunity to sit down with Bethesda’s Todd Howard and talk about the space-RPG. He revealed a number of new details gamers were unaware of and revealed how Bethesda is planning to elevate the RPG landscape with the game.

In the interview, Howard discussed what players can anticipate regarding character creation, skills, and backgrounds in Starfield. He detailed Bethesda’s distinctive approach to these aspects and how their past projects have contributed to their mastery of them.

It seems we’ve successfully struck a delightful balance in Starfield, as it offers an initial taste right away. Here, you can choose some starting abilities based on your background, which also provides a unique touch.

Starfield might be a failure in many aspects, but there’s no denying the fact that Bethesda mastered the initial setting of the game with traits and background. It’s due to these things that the game has depth to it, with proper lore that can keep you occupied for hundreds of hours.

These factors are the initial hook and even played into the success of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. They might seem small, but they push players into investing more and more hours into the game, customizing their characters, and they don’t feel bored at all. Elder Scrolls 6 needs to continue with this trend and even bring new twists to keep players occupied.

Starfield might be coming to PS5 soon

It’s been a while since the launch of “Starfield”‘s “Shattered Space” DLC. Like its base game, it was also criticized by the gaming community as being underwhelming. However, ever since its release, Bethesda has remained silent about any future plans, leaving gamers curious about what might be coming up next.

Over on Starfield‘s official subreddit, one player has spotted the PlayStation logo on the supported platforms list on the Creation Kit website. However, at the time of writing, Bethesda has removed the PlayStation logo.

They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

As a gamer, I’ve been keeping an eye on the Creation Kit website, and there are some hints that suggest Starfield, one of Bethesda’s highly anticipated games, might be coming to the PS5. In recent years, we’ve seen Microsoft bringing its exclusive titles to rival consoles, so I think it’s possible that this trend could continue with Starfield.

During a conversation with Destin Legarie, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer hinted at the possibility of launching Starfield on the PlayStation console, even though he didn’t explicitly confirm it. This suggests that Microsoft might be considering such a release.
