Wendy’s brings its iconic square patties to stores, but there’s a catch

Known fast-food establishment Wendy’s plans to offer its well-known square burger patties at their locations, however, not all customers may have access to these special items.

Back in November 1969, I set up shop for the very first time as a burger joint in Columbus, Ohio – yep, that’s right, it was none other than Wendy’s! Fast forward to today, and this little venture of mine has grown into a nationwide phenomenon, with thousands of locations dotting the map across the US.

One distinguishing factor that sets Wendy’s apart from other quick service restaurants is its unique square hamburger patties, the delicious Frosty desserts, and the consistently popular chili.

For the very first time, the company’s round-shaped burgers are now on shelves at the supermarket, though they’ve currently only been introduced to a couple of markets.

Wendy’s brings square patties to two US cities

As reported by USA Today, the fast-food company is now selling their square burger patties in supermarkets, specifically in Denver, Colorado, and Columbus, Ohio – the city where the brand’s headquarters are located.

A representative from Wendy’s shared that they are exploring innovative methods to deliver their well-known, fresh food to customers in novel and thrilling fashions. At the moment, enthusiasts residing in Columbus, Ohio, and Denver, Colorado, can obtain square patties from their nearby King Soopers or Kroger stores.

The firm has prepared them as a set of four burger patties, where each patty is equivalent to a 4-ounce portion of meat, perfect for barbecue season.

The exact timeline for when the company will introduce their burgers in other regions remains unspecified, yet they’ve shown a willingness to grow if these products prove successful in the cities where they’re currently being sold.

It’s not the first instance of quick-service restaurants branching out to supermarkets. In recent times, chains like Arby’s, Subway, Chipotle, and others have made their signature sauces available in stores. In fact, Arby’s has taken it a step further by offering their curly fries alongside White Castle’s sliders in the frozen food section.

In recent times, traditional eateries like Texas Roadhouse have started expanding into supermarkets as well. Back in September, they introduced their famous mini rolls and cinnamon butter at Walmart.
