We won’t have to wait for ENA Dream BBQ Chapter 2 as long as for the first installment

The initial chapter of ENA Dream BBQ has been well-received on Steam, drawing over 10,000 players simultaneously at its peak (according to SteamDB). Although this number pales in comparison to some other popular indie games, it’s a respectable accomplishment. However, the developers should take pride not in the number of players but in the reviews. Rarely does a game receive as many positive reviews as ENA, boasting an impressive 99% positive rating on Valve’s platform. This is truly impressive, leading many gamers to eagerly anticipate the release of Chapter 2, which is expected sooner than the first installment.

ENA Dream BBQ Chapter 2 release date explained

The ENA Dream BBQ was unveiled back in September 2021, which implies that approximately four years have elapsed since then. Given that development likely started before its announcement, Chapter 1 represents about four years of effort. However, it doesn’t automatically mean we should anticipate the next installment in 2029.

On his Patronite, Joel G shared with fans that there’s no firm release date yet for the upcoming chapters following the Lonely Door episode (which is the subtitle of the first installment). However, he mentioned that the story’s script has been completed. Additionally, the creator also confirmed that the studio has begun work on the continuation and hinted that we may not have to wait much longer for more games.

Following the impressive projects we’ve completed beyond Lonely Door, it’s time for the subsequent phases to keep pace with our momentum!

Absolutely, it’s quite possible that the ENA team might repurpose certain elements from the initial game, such as character models, to streamline their work. Consequently, we may not have to wait as long as we did for the sequel compared to the first chapter.

While it’s uncertain what Joel G’s next project might be, as of March 16, the list of credits for Lonely Door has been closed on his Patreon page. From now on, all ENA tier supporters will be credited in future completed projects, whether they are short animations or games. Therefore, we may not see immediate follow-ups to this project. However, since the ENA Team is larger than just Joel, work can continue even with his partial attention. But, other projects could potentially slow down the process. Thus, it’s best to remain patient and wait for official updates.
