As a huge Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord fan, I was so excited when TaleWorlds first showed off the new War Sails DLC way back in March! We were originally promised naval battles in June, but then they unexpectedly announced a delay. Now they’re saying “early Autumn” – which, honestly, feels like it’s already here! They put out a pretty detailed explanation, and it’s been cool to see most of the community be understanding about it. My only real gripe? TaleWorlds isn’t doing much to *promote* this thing! It feels like we’re not getting a lot of information or hype, which is a bit frustrating.
Nothing huge, just a few teasers every now and then
Things got interesting on March 17th when TaleWorlds posted a mysterious message on X, sparking a lot of speculation. Some fans even thought it might mean a crossover with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. However, a second post revealed what was really happening: the first downloadable content will introduce a new Nord faction and the ability to sail ships.
We eventually received a full trailer, but then there was a long period with no updates. Finally, on August 20th, the studio released a new YouTube video showcasing the Nords, along with a detailed developer blog. However, that’s been the extent of the news since then.
Actually, that’s not quite right. The developers have been releasing quite a few short videos on YouTube and TikTok, but a lot of players aren’t aware of them.
We’re getting glimpses of the new DLC, showing us pirates, the design of the Drakkars (ships), and the unique buildings of the Nords, among other things. However, instead of releasing one big, detailed video, the developers are sharing short, quick updates on the game’s progress, which isn’t ideal for everyone.
The team at TaleWorlds is hard at work improving the new content for *Bannerlord*, and they recently launched the 1.3 beta patch with a ton of updates and adjustments. Because of all this work, we haven’t seen much promotion for *War Sails* beyond short videos.
