As a devoted fan who’s grown up with the laughter and chaos that the Wayans Bros. have brought into my life for over two decades, this news has me jumping for joy! The thought of them reuniting for the “Scary Movie” franchise after 18 years is like finding a long-lost friend at a reunion party. I can’t wait to see them create another masterpiece that will have us rolling in the aisles once more.

Hey there! I can’t wait to share some exciting news with fellow movie enthusiasts like myself. After a long hiatus, the hilarious duo, The Wayans Bros., are gearing up to return to the “Scary Movie” universe! This reunion marks their first collaboration in 18 years, and I can hardly contain my excitement!

The siblings are currently penning an exclusive screenplay for the upcoming franchise remake, which was officially unveiled at CinemaCon back in April. Rick Alvarez is set to contribute both writing and producing duties, along with the Wayans Brothers.

As a passionate moviegoer, I’ve always enjoyed the hilarious “Scary Movie” series that was masterfully crafted by my fellow Wayans – Marlon, Shawn, and the legendary Keenen Ivory Wayans. It was Keenen who penned and directed the first two spine-tingling yet side-splitting films, while my friends Marlon and Shawn took on both writing and acting roles in those initial movies. Excitingly, we’re now gearing up for the sixth installment of this iconic franchise!

Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen expressed great enthusiasm about joining the latest ‘Scary Movie’ production and collaborating with each other once more. This is a series we initially developed over 20 years ago, and we fondly recall audiences laughing in the cinema. We eagerly anticipate sparking laughter again. We are thrilled to be teaming up with Jonathan Glickman and his Miramax crew to bring humor to the big screen once more. This is essentially a two-in-one reunion.

The upcoming “Scary Movie” is set to hit theaters in 2025, with filming commencing around the same time. The franchise belongs to Miramax Studios, and worldwide distribution will be handled by Paramount Pictures. Becky Sloviter serves as the point of contact for Miramax regarding this project. Notably, “Scary Movie” is part of Paramount Pictures’ first-look agreement with Miramax.

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement about reuniting the Wayans brothers with ‘Scary Movie’ – a franchise that has always held a special place in our hearts. Miramax CEO Glickman shared this exciting news, expressing how ideal it is to resurrect this series for modern audiences. With Keenen, Marlon, and Shawn’s one-of-a-kind comedic genius at the helm, I can hardly wait to see their vision come to life on the big screen and share laughter with fans across the globe!

In September, Marlon Wayans publicly expressed his views about Harvey Weinstein’s part in allegedly taking control of their family’s franchise during an interview on the Club Shay Shay podcast. He traced the issues back to a less-than-favorable agreement with Miramax for the first movie, which set the stage for future problems.

In “Scary Movie 3,” Miramax hired the Zucker brothers to direct based on concepts by the Wayans brothers. However, the Wayans brothers did not contribute to the fourth or fifth movies. As he put it, “You can’t do Wayans humor without the Wayans. You might try, but in the end, you’ll lose a lot of money because what we create is unique. Between me, Shawn and Keenan, we have 200 years of comedy experience. Damon, Kim – we’ve been excelling at this for many years. It can’t be replicated by just anyone.

In September 2025, you’ll have a chance to see Marlon Wayans in the lead role of “Him,” a psychological sports thriller directed by Justin Tipping, which is produced by Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions. At present, he’s busy touring across the country with his Wild Child Tour.

Marlon Wayans is represented by three talent agencies – 3 Arts Entertainment, United Talent Agency (UTA), and Yorn, Levine, Barnes. On the other hand, Shawn Wayans is only represented by Yorn, Levine.

Deadline was first to report the news.
