‘Watson’ Renewed for Season 2 at CBS

CBS‘ freshman drama “Watson” has been renewed for Season 2.

The medical series starring Morris Chestnut is currently drawing an average of 6.79 million viewers per episode, according to season-to-date data from Nielsen. Additionally, the pilot episode, which was aired post-AFC Championship game in January, has garnered a total of 18.7 million viewers across multiple platforms when viewed up to 35 days later, as reported by CBS.

Besides Chestnut, the cast features Eve Harlow, Peter Mark Kendall, Inga Schlingmann, Ritchie Coster, and Rochelle Aytes as well.

As a dedicated movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share that the upcoming series follows my character, Dr. John Watson, six months after the tragic demise of my friend and partner, Sherlock Holmes, at the hands of Moriarty. In this new phase, I find myself immersed in a medical career, leading a clinic specializing in treating uncommon diseases. However, my past refuses to let go – the shadow of Moriarty still looms, promising an intriguing continuation of a tale that has captivated viewers for over a century and I, Watson, am ready to write our next chapter together.

I’m thrilled to share that Craig Sweeny penned the pilot and is serving as the showrunner and executive producer. Alongside him, Chestnut holds the title of executive producer, while Sallie Patrick, Larry Teng, Shäron Moalem MD, PhD, Aaron Kaplan from Kapital Entertainment, and Brian Morewitz also join the ranks of executive producers. CBS Studios is responsible for its production. In essence, I can’t wait to see this amazing team bring their vision to life!

This season, CBS has shared updates about show renewals. Shows like “Tracker,” “Fire Country,” “NCIS,” its spin-offs “NCIS: Origins” and “NCIS: Sydney,” “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” “Elsbeth,” “Hollywood Squares,” “Matlock,” “Survivor,” “The Amazing Race,” and “FBI” have all been commissioned for new seasons. Additionally, CBS has ordered two more seasons of the popular sitcom “Ghosts.

Furthermore, CBS has commissioned fresh television series such as “Sheriff Country,” a spin-off of “Fire Country,” and “Boston Blue,” a spin-off of “Blue Bloods.” In development is also an “FBI” series centered around the CIA.

Currently, only two CBS series, “Poppa’s House” and “The Equalizer,” have yet to hear about their upcoming seasons. Conversely, “FBI: International” and “FBI: Most Wanted” have been terminated, while “The Neighborhood” has been granted an additional season, marking its final run. Additionally, spins-off for both “The Neighborhood” and “The Equalizer” are underway in production.
