Watch Tron: Ares Star Jared Leto Ride Tron: Lightcycle At Disney World

As a long-time fan of Tron and an ardent follower of Jared Leto’s acting career, I must admit that seeing these two worlds collide is nothing short of exhilarating! Growing up with the original Tron, the Lightcycles were a symbol of digital freedom and imagination, and now, to see Jared riding one at Disney World feels like a dream come true.

At D23, Disney unveiled a sneak peek of Tron: Ares, the upcoming sequel in the series. Although those previews haven’t been made available online, Jared Leto, the film’s lead actor, recently posted a video from his visit to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom on his Instagram account. In one clip, Leto is seen excitedly riding the Tron Lightcycle Power Run rollercoaster and exclaiming, “I feel like I’m home.”

In the original 1982 movie, we were introduced to Lightcycles, and they’ve been a staple in the Tron universe ever since. This tradition is set to continue in the upcoming film, Tron: Ares. The plot revolves around Ares (played by Leto), who’s discovered a means to traverse from the digital Grid into our physical world. The only clear link between this movie and the initial two films in the series is Jeff Bridges, who will reprise his role as either Kevin Flynn or a digitally recreated version of Flynn since he seemingly met his end in Tron: Legacy.

Greta Lee will join the cast as Eve Kim, a scientist whose research facilitates Ares’ transition into our world. Evan Peters plays Julian Dillinger, a character potentially linked to Ed Dillinger, one of the antagonists from the original Tron, portrayed by David Warner in earlier productions. Alongside them are Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, Gillian Anderson, and Sarah Desjardins.

Joachim Rønning serves as the director for the film “Ares,” written by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne, with music from Nine Inch Nails. The movie “Tron: Ares” is scheduled to premiere in theaters on October 10, 2025.
