In simpler terms, “Severance Season 2 Episode 7 is truly top-notch television.” If it’s piqued your curiosity, you can catch a related program streaming on Netflix immediately. Be aware, there are potential spoilers ahead!
As an avid viewer, I can’t help but feel my heart race as the most recent episode of Apple TV+ unveils unprecedented depth about Lumon’s enigmatic purpose. In this installment, poor Gemma is subjected to a harrowing sequence of rooms, eerily titled after Mark’s MDR files. Each room seems to awaken a distinct Innie within her, and each one finds themselves trapped in an endless cycle of agony, their pain rooted in one of Gemma’s deepest fears.
In Wellington, my days feel as though I’ve been stuck in the dentist’s chair enduring an endless series of unpleasant procedures. Meanwhile, back in Allentown, my Innie seems trapped in a repetitive cycle of writing endless thank-you notes. Yet, episode 7 of Severance Season 2 manages to weave together elements of romance, science fiction, tragedy, horror, and suspense, creating a compelling blend that keeps us hooked.
A Reddit user commented, “If you happen to be aware of any movies, TV shows, books, or anything else that has a similar feel to that particular episode, please share with me. I’m eager to explore more of the same.” Rest assured, we are here to help!
Black Mirror special is Severance’s twisted cousin
As a gamer, I might rephrase it like this: You know how the connections between Black Mirror and Severance are pretty obvious? Well, there’s an episode from the Charlie Brooker anthology that you might have missed – it’s the 74-minute special titled ‘White Christmas’.
In 2014, a Black Mirror episode was introduced as part of Season 2, prior to its streaming on Netflix. This installment shares similar chilling themes and revolves around characters referred to as “cookies,” which are digital clones.
Similar to the Innies in Severance, they are compelled to perform duties, specifically functioning as a personal assistant for the person whose consciousness they’ve been duplicated from.

Besides its primary functions, this technology also gets utilized for other tasks, keeping the cookies stuck in an endless time cycle, similar to how Gemma’s Inner selves are repeatedly subjected to endurance.
Everything leads up to a shockingly terrifying twist in TV series lore, arguably one of the most mind-bending revelations ever on television (we’ll refrain from giving it away if you’re still waiting to catch up).
It’s interesting to note that ‘White Christmas’, a special episode of Black Mirror, came about due to a contract between its creators and Channel 4, the initial broadcaster of the series. When Channel 4 declined Season 3, they instead ordered a standalone special.
Fortunately, Netflix stepped in to keep the series alive, so now every episode, including the ‘White Christmas’ special, can be streamed online through their service.
So, if you need more of the same before the next Severance episode drops, you know what to do.
