Watch out! REPO Lost Signals is yet another knockoff trying to pass as the hit horror game from Steam

Day after day, it’s more of the same – another instance of deceit. The popular Steam game R.E.P.O., which is still in early access and yet to debut on consoles, has found itself with a duplicate on the PlayStation Store. It seems that even before the original hits console platforms, there are already several imitations on PS5. Proceed with caution, as some of these copies are attempting to masquerade as the genuine article.

The R.E.P.O. rip-off saga continues

A few weeks ago, R.E.P.O. Horror topped the charts on the PlayStation Store as the most popular game, but many soon realized it wasn’t the genuine article, despite sharing the same promotional artwork. It didn’t take long before it was taken down, only for another imitation to emerge: R.E.P.O. Ghost Haul. This one even debuted at the same price as the original. Fortunately, it was removed as well, albeit not as swiftly as necessary.

Once more we find ourselves in a familiar situation, as yet another title has surfaced on the PlayStation Store, this one named REPO Lost Signals. However, I have a feeling that most people can now see right through the ruse. This time, there seems to be little effort put into making the promotional artwork appear genuine, and the game’s description is so bland and strikingly AI-crafted that it nearly induced drowsiness while reading it.

Just to make sure we’re on the same page: When in doubt about the authenticity of a game, verify the developer’s information. For instance, “R.E.P.O.” was developed by Semiworks, a small Swedish studio. If you encounter a version without Semiworks as the developer, it’s likely a counterfeit.

Additionally, if the game lacks a well-made trailer or several actual gameplay snapshots, it’s a significant warning sign. Authentic games usually provide some in-game footage for viewers. Consequently, if what you encounter are only abstract promotional images and generalized descriptions, it would be wise to avoid it.
