As a huge Mario fan, I was already excited about the new movie, but the latest trailer really got me! Besides getting a great look at Yoshi, I spotted something amazing – baby Mario and Luigi! It was a super quick scene, but you can see little versions of the brothers being held by Toad (voiced by Keegan-Michael Key). It’s such a cute detail and I can’t wait to see how that plays into the story.
Fans finally got a good look at Baby Mario and Luigi in a new trailer clip. The short, 15-second preview is currently airing during NBC’s Olympics coverage, alongside other promotional clips for the upcoming film.
Unlike previous trailers, this new sneak peek shows actual footage from the movie, specifically a longer clip of the T. rex scene that first appeared in the “Yoshi First Look” teaser. The footage shows Mario and Yoshi, both wearing diapers, playing on the sleeping dinosaur, even using its teeth as instruments with bones.
Toad and Yoahi hurried in and grabbed Baby Mario and Luigi just as the dinosaur woke up, forcing them to flee.

Get ready for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, hitting theaters on April 1st! This animated sequel from Illumination and Universal Pictures brings Nintendo’s popular Super Mario video game to life. It follows Mario (voiced by Chris Pratt) and his brother Luigi (Charlie Day) as they have adventures in the vibrant and fantastical Mushroom Kingdom.
Following their victory over the frightening Bowser (Jack Black) in the first Mario movie, Mario and Luigi are heading into space in the new film, triggered by the appearance of the mischievous Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie).
How Will Baby Mario and Luigi Play Into The Super Mario Galaxy Movie?

With Baby Mario and Luigi now part of the movie world established by The Mario Movie, fans are wondering how they might appear in a potential Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
It’s often debated whether Baby Mario and Baby Luigi are separate characters from adult Mario and Luigi, or just younger versions of them.
I first encountered Baby Mario and Baby Luigi in Yoshi’s Island on the Super Nintendo. It was so cool learning that game took place way before the Mario games I already knew and loved! It showed them as little versions of Mario and Luigi. But what’s really neat is that you also see them hanging out with the grown-up Mario and Luigi in games like Mario Kart and all the Mario Sports titles – it’s a little confusing, but fun to see them both young and old!

Are the new characters in The Super Mario Bros. Movie completely original, simply younger versions of the familiar heroes, or something different altogether?
Now that Yoshi appears in the movie, the scene with Baby Mario and Luigi might be a flashback. This could suggest the Mario brothers have a hidden connection to the Mushroom Kingdom and the video game world, one they aren’t even aware of.
Another possibility is that Mario and Luigi will be magically reduced to a smaller, younger size during the movie, allowing Yoshi to take on a more mature and responsible role for part of their journey.
