As a long-time fan of the Watch Dogs series, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement seeing that the movie adaptation has finally wrapped up filming! Mathieu Turi, with his impressive resume including work on Inglourious Basterds and The Deep Dark, seems like the perfect choice to bring this intricate world to life on the big screen.
It’s been announced that the film adaptation of the popular video game, Watch Dogs, has completed its shooting phase, as revealed by Ubisoft and New Regency. To celebrate this accomplishment, they shared a picture of Mathieu Turi, the director, on set directing one of the movie scenes. Known for his work as an assistant director on Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds and as the sole director of The Deep Dark and Hostile, Turi is at the helm of this project.
2013 saw the announcement of the Watch Dogs movie, however, like many Hollywood projects, it encountered several delays along the way. Luckily, production finally kicked off in early July, making for a swift filming process.
As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled to share that I, Tom Blyth, will be stepping into a major role alongside the talented Sophia Wilde in an upcoming production. This project is none other than The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the prequel to The Hunger Games series! Can’t wait to dive in!

Turi is currently engaged in transforming video games for television screens, simultaneously working on a TV series inspired by the Plague Tale game series.
A year before the release of Watch Dogs game series in 2014, a film adaptation was announced, initially slated at Sony Pictures. The initial game garnered significant popularity, leading to sequels – Watch Dogs 2 (2016) and Watch Dogs Legion (2020). Across the three installments, the series employed real-world cities like Chicago, San Francisco, and London as settings. These open-world games showcase advanced hacking techniques and gadgetry set in a futuristic landscape. Despite this, no updates have been shared regarding the setting or plot for the movie adaptation.
Despite the success of “Watch Dogs”, films based on other popular Ubisoft games like “Splinter Cell” and “The Division” have yet to materialize. The most significant video game movie produced by Ubisoft to date is the 2016 “Assassin’s Creed”, starring Michael Fassbender, which grossed over $240 million worldwide at the box office.
