As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must admit that this year’s Warzone update feels a bit lackluster compared to previous years. The absence of a new big map is a significant blow for many players like me who have grown accustomed to the thrill of exploring fresh battlefields.

This year’s integration of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 into Warzone kicks off with Season 1 on November 14th, however, unlike past seasons, the anticipation and excitement surrounding this update appear to be notably diminished – and there seems to be a primary cause for this decline.

Yearly, the latest installment of Call of Duty’s main series is incorporated into Warzone’s battle royale, offering a range of fresh weaponry, playstyles, locomotion, and other features.

Because of this, it’s an especially thrilling period for Warzone enthusiasts: just as starting a fresh game invigorates multiplayer fans, the significant updates in Warzone give the experience a completely refreshed feel.

Despite the anticipation for Season 1 update of Black Ops 6, there’s a notable aspect that has noticeably decreased excitement – the absence of a new large-scale map, which has been a common feature in recent game updates. On November 14th, players will not find such an addition.

With every new Call of Duty release, we’ve seen maps such as Caldera, Al Mazrah, Urzikstan, and in Cold War, there was Rebirth Island – an entirely fresh map introduced for a brand-new game mode, even as players continued to appreciate the classic Verdansk.

Currently, it has been revealed that two large Battle Royale maps, including Warzone’s new maps and Area 99 Resurgence, are in development; however, neither of them is scheduled to debut on the game’s initial release date.

If Urzikstan, the current large map, remained enjoyable and exciting like Verdansk used to be, it might still be salvageable. Unfortunately, due to a lack of attention from developers Raven Software in recent times, a significant segment of players who prefer game modes other than Resurgence have few reasons to look forward to the game.

Beyond this, the original state of Urzikstan will be restored, eliminating elements like the Superstore, underground bunkers, and Popov Point of Interest enhancements, as well as various other modifications that were added later.

Absolutely, there’s a silver lining! I, as an avid gamer, can hardly contain my excitement. After all the pleas and anticipation from the competitive community throughout this year, it seems like our prayers have been answered – Season 1 will finally introduce Ranked Play on the big map!

Just as we’re aware, there are two major map releases coming up: Verdansk is scheduled for Spring 2025, while Avalon is projected to be released by the end of 2025.

In essence, the current state of Warzone isn’t generating much excitement among players, and this lackluster response is primarily due to the recent launch of the game.
