Warframe’s The Vallis Undermind update is now available

Digital Extremes has launched a new update for Warframe called The Vallis Undermind. It introduces Nokko, the 62nd playable Warframe, along with a new Quest titled The Teacher, and other additions.

The latest update to Warframe, called ‘The Teacher Cinematic Quest,’ is designed to make the game more welcoming for new players. It was created with help from Sumo Digital and includes a free reward for the Oberon Warframe just for logging in. Players can also enjoy special, limited-time events for Halloween and explore a brand new area called The Deepmines. Plus, Digital Extremes has confirmed that Warframe is being developed for the Nintendo Switch 2, and they’ve finally received the necessary development kits.

You can now play Warframe on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and iOS. An Android version is also being tested with a limited closed beta this fall.

I just saw the launch trailer for Warframe’s The Vallis Undermind, and Digital Extremes shared a bunch of cool details about it! You can check it out below – it looks amazing!

Warframe’s latest big update, The Vallis Undermind, is now available as a free download on all platforms. It introduces Nokko, the 62nd Warframe, along with a new Quest called The Teacher designed to help new players get started. Existing players will enjoy a revamped Oberon Warframe with a free login reward, a brand new area to explore with unique stories, and special events for the Halloween season.

According to Creative Director Rebecca Ford, developing Warframe feels like a constant learning process – always finding the best ways to improve the game for both new and longtime players. They acknowledge that getting started hasn’t always been easy, but they’ve prioritized making the game more accessible over the past year. Balancing updates like The Vallis Undermind to appeal to everyone is a fun challenge. Their new Quest, ‘The Teacher,’ now properly introduces players to modding, alongside the content existing players enjoy, such as new areas to explore in missions, unique Warframe designs, and continuing the game’s story. And, apparently, players should get ready to appreciate Mushrooms!

New wonders arriving in The Vallis Undermind update today include:

A new introductory Quest called “The Teacher,” created with Sumo Digital, helps players learn how to modify their equipment in Warframe. Guided by Teshin, this Quest is part of Digital Extremes’ ongoing work to make the beginning of the game more user-friendly. You can start “The Teacher” after finishing “Vor’s Prize,” and completing it will give you the new Thornbak rifle. Each Warframe account can only complete this Quest once.

Nokko, the 62nd Warframe, is designed around a unique mushroom theme and skillset. She can throw poisonous mushrooms that release spores and put enemies to sleep, grow mushrooms that boost allies’ defenses, transform into a small, healing mushroom form to avoid damage, or launch bouncing, explosive mushrooms. Players can earn Nokko’s blueprints and resources by completing Nightcap Bounties, or purchase her directly with Platinum in the Warframe Market.

Okay, so there’s a brand new area called The Deepmines, and it’s packed with stuff to do! I’m talking new quests – bounties, specifically – cool characters to meet, and a ton of hidden backstory to uncover. There’s this new vendor, Nightcap, who gives out the bounties, and they’ll send me exploring the depths of Fortuna. I need to report my mushroom-collecting progress to Nightcap in his Foraging Journal to level up and get better rewards. Plus, I can feed a special mushroom called ‘The Prince’ something called Fergolyte, which unlocks these narrative ‘Visions’ that tell more about The Deepmines, Nightcap, and this character Nokko. Just a heads up, I need to finish The New War quest before I can even get into The Deepmines and start doing Nightcap’s bounties.

We’ve completely reworked the hero Oberon, based on player feedback! From October 15th to 21st, log in to receive a free reward. This update gives Oberon more flexible healing, a new ability called Righteous Negation that reduces damage taken, and improvements to his other skills. Smite now removes more armor from enemies, Hallowed Ground’s area is more effective, Renewal provides a stronger armor boost to allies, and Reckoning deals significantly more damage. You can find detailed information about these changes in our latest Dev Workshop.
