Warframe’s big Techrot Encore update is now live on all platforms bringing in the 60th Warframe and more

I’m pumped! Just today, Digital Extremes dropped the massive Techrot Encore update for Warframe across all platforms. This is our first major overhaul of the year, jam-packed with exciting features like the 60th playable Warframe, two fresh mission types, a zippy racing mini-game, new cosmetics, and more! Can’t wait to dive back into the game and check it all out.

Today’s update, reminiscent of Warframe: 1999, includes a fresh track. The musicians behind this tune are Jake Bowen and Mark Holcomb from Periphery. Titled “Lamenting the Days”, it can be enjoyed in-game with the addition of Elliot Coleman from Good Tiger. Warframe: Techrot Encore is now available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and iOS.

The highly anticipated sequel to Warframe’s popular 1999 update, Techrot Encore, is now accessible for free on all current platforms. This latest installment of the 12-year-old sci-fi saga introduces a new set of characters battling against the Techrot plague, along with other exciting additions. These include two new mission types, an exhilarating Atomicycle racing mini-game, a variety of new weapons and cosmetic skins, music tracks, challenging boss fights from the Technocyte Coda’s Infested boy band, and more thrilling features to explore.

Rebecca Ford, Creative Director, expressed that the positive reception to Warframe: 1999 was a significant boost for the team. They are thrilled to expand this experience in Techrot Encore with even more ’90s nostalgia, additional Protoframes, original music, and the highly anticipated Technocyte Coda. For the team, working hard to make this update unique, special (and perhaps a bit strange), is just as exhilarating as it is for players.

Additional details on new content arriving in Techrot Encore:

Challenge the Technocyte Coda to musically-charged boy band boss fights:

  • Obtain a seemingly harmless but potentially malicious file to gain entry to the newest component of Warframe’s Adversary System. (In this sentence, “inconspicuous” and “potentially malicious” are used instead of “hidden virus” to make it more natural and clearer)

  • Aim to surpass your rivals’ achievements to secure 13 fresh Coda weapons inspired by the Infested enemy group, along with additional themed cosmetics.

Melt minds and ears as Temple, the 60th Warframe:

  • As a gamer, I ignite the Pyrotechnics with Temple’s electric guitar, blasting enemies with towering pillars of fire. I crank up the amplifier volume to Overdrive, unleashing fiery heat waves and striking a high Ripper’s Wail note, making me invincible for a brief moment and healing my wounds. When needed, I pull out Temple’s sentient guitar, Lizzie, in Exalted Solo mode, transforming her into a flamethrower that switches her piercing melodies to various elemental damages.

  • Add the Riot-848, Temple’s distinctive secondary sidearm and a unique Entrati-crafted firearm that reloads ammunition back into its magazine, to the roster of combat tools.

Run into four brand new Protoframe characters at the social center of Höllvania Central Mall, specifically near The Round Table Bar.

  • Access the advanced K.I.M. chat platform to establish meaningful friendships with Temple’s Flare, Saryn’s Minerva, Frost’s Velimir, and Nova’s Kaya. Witness their captivating tales as they unfold.

  • All new Protoframes will also have their own fully voiced and customizable Gemini Skins.

Discover unseen parts of Höllvania with two new mission types and a new mini-game:

  • Cheer on Flare in Stage Defense as they put on a memorial concert for the ages.

  • Ready yourself for Warframe’s toughest test yet, the up-to-date Temporal Archimedea, bolstered by some of the freshly introduced Protoframes!

Gear up for the latest and greatest challenge in Warframe – Temporal Archimedea. Get help from some brand new Protoframes to conquer this tough obstacle!

  • Unleash the might of the Scaldra against them using four newly crafted Scaldra weapon options: the destructive Purgator 1 grenade launcher, the deadly Dual Viciss sickles, the powerful EFV-8 Mars pistol, and the EFV-5 Jupiter assault rifle.

  • Test your Atomicycle drifting abilities in the latest racing mini-game, Ollie’s Crash Course, found within the arcade at Höllvania Central Mall. This game is brought to you by Digital Extreme in collaboration with the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and features the voice of James Conlin.

Experience the fresh tune, titled “Lamenting the Days,” in the latest Stage Defense mission. This track is a collaborative effort with Jake Bowen and Mark Holcomb from the metal band Periphery, along with Elliot Coleman, vocalist from the rock group Good Tiger.

Enhance Warframe’s wardrobe by introducing a wide variety of fresh cosmetic items, including skins. Shock your adversaries stylishly with the Gyre Vortengeist Deluxe skin, and explore the newest community-created cosmetics with the TennoGen Encore Collection, which includes new Warframe skins, Syandana backpieces, and armor pieces.

With Techrot Encore, you’ll find several enhancements designed for a smoother gaming experience. Some Pseudo Exalted Abilities have undergone changes that affect specific Warframes. The number of Defense mission waves has been decreased, and replayability options have been added for The Duviri Paradox and The Hex quests. New players embarking on The New War Quest can now borrow a Necramech to aid them in their journey. Simplifications have been made to Archwing crafting, and adjustments have been made to the Star Chart path leading to The Second Dream Quest.
