Want A Crash Bandicoot Movie? Ask Xbox, The Last Of Us Boss Says

Neil Druckmann, creator of The Last of Us, has expressed his desire to support a petition for a Crash Bandicoot movie. However, since Naughty Dog doesn’t own the franchise, all he can do is show his interest. Originally developed by Naughty Dog in 1996, the Crash Bandicoot series is now under Microsoft’s ownership due to their acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

Druckmann shared with Indie Wire that Naughty Dog has never owned the Crash series, so any potential Crash movie would require approval from Microsoft. In essence, he suggested directing the question to Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, about producing a Crash Bandicoot film. He even went as far as saying he’d sign a petition in support of this idea.

To date, there hasn’t been a film adaptation of Crash, however, with the rise of video game adaptations in Hollywood, some speculate that this could change. Whether or not it will happen is yet unknown, but Spencer has expressed an interest in creating more TV shows and movies based on its franchises.

He mentioned that they’ve learned valuable lessons from creating games like Halo and Fallout. These experiences have helped them evolve their future projects. In other words, each new project builds upon the last. He acknowledged that not every attempt will be successful, but he promised the Xbox community that enjoys these types of games: “Expect more, as we’re growing in confidence and learning with each step.

Recently, there’s been a bit of a resurgence for the Crash Bandicoot video game franchise, but as of now, we don’t have a Crash Bandicoot 5 in development – that might change in the future though.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m pumped up about the upcoming releases! Although it seems like we won’t be getting a Crash movie anytime soon, Microsoft is giving us Fallout fans something to look forward to with its second season coming this year. On top of that, Netflix is working on a Gears of War film and TV series. To top it off, rumors are swirling about a sequel for the Minecraft movie – can’t wait to see what adventures await us!

Regarding the projects that Druckmann is currently handling, he is overseeing “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet” and simultaneously working on another game in collaboration with Naughty Dog.
