Mike White departed to shoot another season of Survivor, which led to the revelation of all the behind-the-scenes secrets from The White Lotus’ third season. In a June 4 interview with Variety, Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood addressed rumors about their strained relationship for the first time. Goggins clarified that there was no feud between them, stating, “She is love, and I know that I am that to her. We care about each other very deeply.” In response to speculation, Wood stated that she had no issue with Goggins hosting SNL, emphasizing that it wasn’t related to her feelings.
During that interview, I couldn’t help but take notice and re-follow Wood on Instagram, being as big a fan as I am. “Allow me to clarify,” I said, wanting to set the record straight. “The act of following or unfollowing doesn’t define my maturity.” It seemed Goggins’ decision to unfollow after our project ended didn’t ruffle Wood’s feathers either. As she put it in an interview with Variety, “It says a lot about the culture we live in today.” She continued, “People are so fixated on Instagram. But let me tell you, neither of us cares about Instagram.
Goggins shared that he had to start dealing with the idea of parting ways with Rick and Chelsea. He mentioned that he hadn’t communicated with anyone else from the cast, as it was too much for him to handle. He expressed indifference towards people’s opinions about his actions. He stated that both Rick and Chelsea hold significant importance in his life, which is why he felt compelled to go through this process on his own.
Even though Goggins was shooting ‘Fallout’ when the finale aired, he regretted watching it without Wood. This was particularly painful because their favorite scene, a prolonged moment of eye contact between them, was omitted from the final episode. In jest, Goggins exclaimed, “Fuck you, Mike!” during the interview. However, White can’t respond — he’s talking to Jeff Probst in Fiji.
