Okay, the Golden Globe nominations for 2025 are here, and predictably, there’s plenty to dissect. Walton Goggins really shone this year – and he still has Fallout Season 2 coming! Seeing his name on the nominee list felt right, but honestly, I’m a little shocked one of his performances didn’t get any recognition at all. It feels like a major oversight.

Walton Goggins has been nominated for a TV award for his role in Season 3 of The White Lotus. He gave a great performance and is competing against his former co-star, Jason Isaacs. However, I think his best work this year was actually in the final season of The Righteous Gemstones.

His Performance As Uncle Baby Billy On The Righteous Gemstones Was Ignored

I recall the main events of Walton Goggins’ storyline in The White Lotus Season 3, but it felt like a surprisingly restrained performance for him. I usually expect Goggins to be incredibly charismatic, with a touch of southern appeal and a hint of mischief. In fact, his character, Uncle Baby Billy, had one of the strongest and most memorable story arcs in the final season of The Righteous Gemstones.

As a huge fan of the show, I was blown away by Walton Goggins’ performance as Uncle Baby Billy in The Righteous Gemstones. Seriously, from the wild stories about jet-skiing to his role in Teenjus, the show gave him so much freedom to be completely unhinged, and he absolutely nailed it – I thought it was easily one of the best things he’s done in the whole series. It’s a real shame the Golden Globes didn’t seem to recognize that, though.

Why Do Award Shows Continue To Snub The Righteous Gemstones?

It’s not surprising that The Righteous Gemstones was overlooked again by an awards show. The series never won an Emmy, which is really strange, especially considering shows like The Bear did win for Outstanding Comedy Series. Despite this, The Righteous Gemstones remained a major topic of conversation, thanks to its funny and critical look at the world of megachurches.

Danny McBride mentioned the possibility of another The Righteous Gemstones movie, but his other idea sounds even more exciting.

I don’t understand why this show keeps getting overlooked by awards shows, especially considering how popular it is and how talented the actors are. It seems like someone should recognize John Goodman’s incredible career with a lifetime achievement award, but I’m always let down when the nominations are announced.

Walton Goggins might win a Golden Globe for his role in The White Lotus, and he absolutely deserves it – though I actually thought his performance in The Righteous Gemstones was even better. That show’s dance sequence he did by himself was fantastic and should really be featured at an awards show, but I doubt it will be.
