VR’s Biggest And Best Game Is Ending PS4 And PS5 Support

It’s been confirmed that Beat Saber, a widely acclaimed VR rhythm game, will no longer receive any new updates or additional content on either PlayStation 4 or PS5, as stated by its developers, Beat Games. Furthermore, the multiplayer functionality for this game on Sony consoles will be deactivated at the start of 2026.

The game will continue to be playable on both PS4 and PS5 platforms, and you can still buy the game along with all the previously released songs and music packs. However, the upcoming addition of Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra” on June 18th marks the final content update for the PS4 and PS5 versions.

Starting from January 21, 2026, the multiplayer feature in Beat Saber for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles will no longer be available.

Beat Games opted not to disclose the reasons behind ceasing new updates or ending multiplayer support on Sony’s consoles. However, they mentioned their decision was driven by a focus on the future and preparing “a major advancement for Beat Saber”.

On their site’s FAQ, it states, “We’re thrilled about the future opportunities and what we can offer to Beat Saber enthusiasts who have been with us throughout our seven-year journey. In simpler terms, we’re looking forward to delivering more exciting experiences to you!

In the FAQ, Beat Games explained that further content updates for PlayStation 4/5 will no longer be provided, but they will keep releasing new music and updates for the Steam edition of Beat Saber. Additionally, the game is playable on the virtual reality platform of Meta’s Quest.

Beat Games has previously ceased support for a platform, similar to when Beat Saber stopped supporting the Oculus Quest 1 in 2024. Although you can still play the game, it no longer offers multiplayer functionality or new updates. It’s important to note that Beat Games was acquired by Meta (formerly Facebook) back in 2019.

Regardless of future updates for PS4/PS5 versions, Beat Saber stands as one of the top-tier VR games currently available, and ranks among the finest PlayStation VR offerings.
