Today, the Six One Indie Showcase showcased numerous independent games throughout its duration of an hour. However, they concluded the event with a unique revelation. You might recall stumbling upon a brief video on social media platforms years ago depicting a Spinosaurus wielding a Buster Sword. The artist behind that viral sensation has been developing a game where dinosaurs engage in sword fights. Today, we were treated to the trailer for Dinoblade, and it retains much of the style that initially made the viral clip so captivating.
Dinosaurs with swords: Dinoblade is the “one more thing” at the Six One Indie showcase
Jean Nguyen established Team Spino LLC to release this game, all while serving as a Senior Gameplay Animator at Sucker Punch Productions, known for Ghost of Tsushima and the inFamous series. Following the initial trailer launch, Nguyen unveiled some background on how this game came about. He mentioned a viral clip, then stated, “…it was initially made to enhance my portfolio, but it unexpectedly went viral, and the demand for a game didn’t stop, so here we are.” Clearly, if something looks like an intriguing video game, people will persistently seek it out.
In brief, the trailer for Dinoblade lasts roughly thirty seconds, yet it offers a tantalizing sneak peek of what’s to come. Your character will be a Spinosaurus wielding a massive sword in its jaws, and you’ll encounter other dinosaurs armed with weapons – a Carnotaurus brandishing a scythe being one example, along with the colossal Tyrannosaurus Rex equipped with an equally imposing sword. The combat scenes resemble games such as Monster Hunter and Devil May Cry, leading VICE to coin the term “Dinosaur May Cry.” Throughout the trailer, you’ll witness intense battles between two dinosaurs clashing swords in fierce combat.
It wasn’t difficult to notice similar dynamic and grandiose movements that made the initial video so captivating, still present in this game. There’s a lot more to discover about
As of now, there’s no confirmed launch date or demo available for Dinoblade, but I’m excited to discover more about it. Given that it’s an indie title, we might need to exercise a bit of patience for another year or two. An intriguing approach to stay updated on the game’s progress is by following its creator on social media, as many people in live chats and YouTube comments have done. If you’re keen on this game and want to show your support, feel free to add it to your wishlist on Steam.
