Vinay Pathak Thriller ‘Maya Ko Maya’ Completes Filming, Eyes Winter Release (EXCLUSIVE)

The psychological thriller titled “Maya Ko Maya,” starring Vinay Pathak, Anna Sharma, Saloni Batra, and Satyajeet Dubey, has wrapped up the main filming phase.

The film, which is being made in both English and Nepali, and takes place in contemporary Nepal, using true incidents as its basis, plans for a global premiere during the winter season of 2025.

Under the guidance of director Rohit Karan Baidya, the movie is being produced by Jyadro Movies, a subsidiary of Driver Inc., with Platoon One Films providing creative input. Platoon One, renowned as India’s top independent film studio known for critically acclaimed films such as “Sir” (Cannes) and “Ghaath” (Berlinale), will take care of the movie’s distribution and international sales.

Rohit Karan Baidya is directing a movie produced by Jyadro Movies, a part of Driver Inc., with advice from Platoon One Films. Platoon One, famous for creating successful independent films, will handle the movie’s release and distribution worldwide.

This story revolves around the character of Maya, who challenges societal norms by undergoing therapy, leading to intense emotional struggles that could potentially disrupt her entire existence. Vinay Pathak (“Bheja Fry,” “Khosla Ka Ghosla”) characterized filming in Nepal as profoundly impactful and portrayed the country as an essential, vital character within the movie itself. According to him, the film “Maya Ko Maya” provides a seldom-seen side of Nepal that is raw, personal, and potent.

Actress Anna Sharma, widely recognized as “Aktor” or “The Man from Kathmandu,” described the project as a compelling psychological thriller with an emotional resonance that transcends its Nepalese backdrop. Satyajeet Dubey, known for his roles in “Mumbai Diaries 26/11” and “Prassthanam,” found the project appealing due to his character’s complexly human traits. He explained that the movie doesn’t present things as clear-cut good or evil; instead, everyone is caught up in varying degrees of grey.
