It might seem like Vin Diesel has only appeared in Fast & Furious movies, but this is definitely not the case. The actor has taken on numerous other compelling roles, some of which are even Oscar-worthy. For instance, his debut film, Strays — a project he both wrote and directed — tells a poignant story about a drug dealer searching for purpose in life. Additionally, many have forgotten that Diesel played a Navy SEAL lieutenant turned babysitter in the comedy, The Pacifier.
On multiple occasions, Diesel has been involved with the production of superhero films. Unlike some other famous actors and directors who have expressed disapproval towards this genre, Diesel has consistently shown support and affection for it throughout his career. Although his collaboration with Marvel Studios has concluded, there’s a strong possibility he might return if given another opportunity – something that fans are eagerly anticipating. A wide array of DC characters could potentially suit him well, from Bane to Boston Brand.
So far, the following are the superhero movies Diesel has starred in, ranked from good to best.

‘Bloodshot’ (2020)
The story revolves around Ray Garrison, a soldier who was brought back to life using sophisticated nanotechnology following his and his wife’s untimely death. Now functioning as the superhero, Bloodshot, he eventually uncovers that Rising Spirit Tech had tampered with his memories to turn him into an assassin. It’s now time for him to exact revenge on those responsible.
Sparing No One
Influenced by the Valiant Comics series, the movie Bloodshot struggled during the COVID-19 pandemic and received harsh criticism from both fans and reviewers for its weak, uninspired script. Yet, Vin Diesel garnered acclaim for his captivating, controversial portrayal of the main character. The intensity of Bloodshot’s desperate struggle against overwhelming circumstances and his relentless resistance truly enhanced the film. Furthermore, the action sequences in the movie were the type that Kevin Feige would have appreciated seeing in his Marvel franchise.

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ (2022)
In the movie titled “Thor: Love and Thunder,” Thor (Chris Hemsworth) embarks on a quest for self-understanding following the tumultuous events in “Avengers: Endgame.” As a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, he enjoys harmonious relationships with many teammates, such as Groot (Diesel). Unfortunately, personal issues compel him to depart when Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) starts indiscriminately killing gods across the cosmos.
Trying To Recapture the ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Magic
In the movie “Love and Thunder,” Diesel has limited screen time, but he remains captivating and convincing as the alien, sentient tree-like character. Beyond its star-studded cast, this Taika Waititi film excels due to its authentic, revealing, and insightful narrative about the regrettable decisions that can stem from sorrow (Gorr seeks revenge after losing his daughter). However, you might find the jokes becoming repetitive around midway through the story.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ (2017)
In the thrilling sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, I, along with my fellow Guardians, have gained quite a reputation following our triumph over a terrifying interdimensional beast. Little do we know that a greater challenge awaits us. The enigmatic celestial entity, Ego, played by none other than Kurt Russell, has emerged, claiming to be my father, Peter Quill. However, he conceals a sinister motive – to reshape the universe in his likeness, harnessing Quill’s power for this grand design. It is up to us to thwart his nefarious plans.
“Family” Members Don’t Always Mean Well
In this setting, the entire tribe is strong-knit, yet Diesel’s Groot stands out remarkably. He exhibits an incredibly active and resourceful nature, undertaking some of the most significant tasks, such as planting a bomb in Ego’s brain. Notably, fans will be intrigued to learn that Diesel lent his voice for Groot in sixteen different languages across various international versions (an increase from six in the initial release). Furthermore, it’s worth mentioning that “Guardians 2” boasts a more stunning visual appeal than many other Marvel Cinematic Universe films. At the Oscars, it was recognized with a nomination for Best Visual Effects.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ (2023)
In the beginning of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, Rocket, played by Bradley Cooper, suffers severe injuries at the hands of Adam Warlock (Will Poulter). To make matters worse, the Guardians’ medical supplies can’t heal his wounds because of a lethal device implanted in him by Orgocorp. To add fuel to the fire, The High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) is planning to exploit Rocket for his genetic experiments. Now, Groot (Vin Diesel) and the rest of the Guardians are faced with yet another predicament. What will they do to help their injured friend?
Closing the Chapter
In “Guardians 3”, James Gunn solidified his spot among renowned filmmakers who crafted exceptional superhero trilogies. The movie can be described as a well-balanced, thought-provoking action-thriller. It skillfully delves into the possible reasons behind our heroes’ unfortunate blunders that put them in peril, ensuring viewers are never left confused. As we journey towards some form of lasting resolution, we delve into the complexities of brotherhood and the ominous side of ambition. Don’t forget to prepare for Groot’s heart-touching final scene.

This film is unique as it presents a scenario where the antagonist emerges victorious.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ (2014)
Space explorer Peter Quill, portrayed by Chris Pratt, is persistently pursued by tenacious bounty hunters in “Guardians of the Galaxy”. This is due to him having swipped an orb that holds immense power for a formidable villain. To enhance his odds of staying alive, he forms an alliance with a band of outcasts, among them being the tree-like creature Groot, voiced by Vin Diesel.
Soulful and Gripping
Has a Marvel movie ever boasted a more memorable soundtrack? Hand-picked by James Gunn himself, the tunes will linger in your mind, particularly “Escape (The Piña Colada Song)” by Rupert Holmes. Additionally, Diesel’s vocal talents shine once again. His acting chemistry with the rest of the cast is also noteworthy, and he skillfully brings an unconventional character to life with subtle charm. The entire supporting cast also delivers impressive performances.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ (2019)
In the blockbuster film “Avengers: Endgame,” our favorite superheroes, including The Avengers, The Guardians, and others, have an opportunity to rectify their errors. Five years have passed, and the surviving main characters have devised a strategy to undo the Blip by employing time travel. They venture back in time to acquire the Infinity Stones, but this won’t be a walk in the park, especially once Thanos catches wind of their scheme.
Now or Never
In the eyes of many, Endgame marks the pinnacle of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), an achievement that has yet to be surpassed. It’s a film that offers heroic sacrifices, breathtaking action sequences, and a visual spectacle that is nothing short of astonishing. The high-contrast cinematography lends it a gritty, cordite-inspired ambiance, enhancing the film’s unconventional and somewhat implausible narrative. Groot may have a minor role in this grand production, but his presence is far from insignificant. Each character in this ensemble piece commands attention, making every moment engaging and memorable.
