Vin Diesel Gets Four Claims Dismissed in Assistant’s Sex Abuse Lawsuit

On Tuesday, a court dismissed four employment discrimination charges against Vin Diesel, but he remains under accusation for sexual battery and wrongful dismissal made by a former assistant.

In 2023, Asta Jonasson filed a lawsuit against Diesel, claiming that he had forcefully pressed her against a hotel room wall and exposed himself inappropriately to her back in 2010. This alleged incident was said to have transpired outside the usual timeframe set by the statute of limitations.

As a dedicated cinema lover, I was thrilled when, in 2023, Governor Gavin Newsom took a significant step forward by signing the Sexual Abuse and Cover Up Accountability Act. This legislation brought renewed hope for victims of sexual assault whose claims dating back to 2009 were previously expired. The act allowed these long-standing cases to be revisited, offering a chance for justice that was otherwise denied.

To initiate a lawsuit based on the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, it’s necessary for the claimant to submit a complaint initially to the State Civil Rights Department at the administrative level.

On Tuesday, Judge Daniel M. Crowley determined that a law modifying the statute of limitations did not apply to the deadline for filing an administrative complaint, which at the time was just one year in 2010. Consequently, he decided that four claims under FEHA were past their expiration date due to the statute of limitations.

The judge stated that the plaintiff’s claims under FEHA (Fair Employment and Housing Act) cannot proceed because they were not submitted to the appropriate administrative body (California Department of Fair Employment and Housing) within a year of the alleged discriminatory action, which is necessary before filing a lawsuit under FEHA.

In addition to filing complaints regarding retaliation, wrongful termination, sexual assault, negligent management, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, none of these claims necessitate an administrative hearing. Therefore, the judge’s ruling did not affect these allegations.

Diesel’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, adamantly denied the claims when they were first filed.

At that point, I found myself firmly convinced by the compelling proof that thoroughly debunked such extraordinary claims.
