Veteran Media Exec Nancy Han Rejoins CNN as SVP of Video Editorial

Nancy Han is back at CNN, taking on the role of Senior Vice President of Video Editorial, three years following her departure when the parent company Warner Bros. Discovery discontinued their premium streaming service CNN+, where Han was in charge of weekly programming.

In her new position, Han is tasked with overseeing CNN’s video narrative strategy, creating and executing methods that strike a chord with viewers on various platforms such as linear TV, digital, and mobile devices. She will be managing a fresh team, combining digital video and field production units, responsible for crafting original videos, remixing, editing, and optimizing video content from the very beginning of a story.

Han is crucial for molding the way CNN presents unique and current video narratives that are suitable for a changing media environment, as stated by the network upon announcing her new position.

Han will work primarily from CNN’s New York office, taking orders from Virginia Moseley, the Executive Vice President and Editor-in-Chief, while also maintaining a secondary reporting line to Alex MacCallum, who is in charge of digital products and services. Han’s tenure with us begins on Monday, March 24th.

Han boasts over two decades of expertise in digital media, streaming platforms, traditional broadcasting, and innovative technologies. Most recently, she founded and led Han Wapner Media as its principal consultant, offering strategic guidance to notable clients such as CNN and TalkShopLive in the digital domain.

After working as the Vice President of weekly programming at CNN+, she is now back with CNN. At CNN+, her team developed original content for CNN’s inaugural direct-to-consumer streaming service. Before that, she served as the Executive Vice President of news at NowThis Media, managing all editorial functions. Prior to NowThis, Han held a senior producer role at “CBS This Morning,” and before that, she spent 11 years at ABC News.

Han kicked off her professional journey in the realm of local news based in Providence, Rhode Island. After earning her bachelor’s degree in journalism from New York University, she has lately been engaged in imparting knowledge to students at NYU as a temporary professor, focusing on undergraduate journalism subjects.
