Venom Delayed Due to Guilty Gear Strive’s Team of 3 Mode

The Chief Technology Officer for Product Development at Arc System Works disclosed the genuine explanation behind the postponement of Venom’s launch, which was originally planned for an early 2025 arrival in Guilty Gear Strive, and is now scheduled for March 24 instead.

The character Venom has been confirmed for Guilty Gear Strive in its Season 4 lineup, revealed during the Arc World Tour Finals held on March 23. Originally scheduled for a 2025 release, development-related issues at Arc System Works caused his comeback to be postponed temporarily.

TopMob had an exclusive conversation with Hideyuki Ambe, the Chief Technology Officer from Arc System Works’ Product Development Department, who shared some insights about the factors contributing to Venom’s delayed release.

ArcSys CTO says Strive’s Team of 3 mode delayed Venom’s release

As a dedicated admirer, I can share that according to Ambe, the delay in Venom’s release was primarily because the development team was intensely working on perfecting their ‘Team of 3’ competitive 3v3 gameplay mode. This focus had an extensive ripple effect on Strive, ensuring its completion before moving forward.

Ambe openly laughed and confessed one reason for the delay in Venom’s release: it was due to a team of three individuals we were working closely with. In truth, these constraints on resources affected our entire project timeline, including Venom. This teamwork had a ripple effect, causing delays not only for Venom but also for everything that followed.

Additionally, Ambe pointed out that in comparison to large-scale game developers such as Capcom and Bandai Namco, Amusement Software (ArcSys) is relatively modest in size. This smaller scale can significantly affect a project’s deadline if a key team member becomes ill.

Hey there fellow gamers! Just wanted to share some behind-the-scenes insight. Unlike the gaming giants such as Capcom, our studio is pretty tiny. So small, in fact, that when one team member catches a bug, it’s like we’re left with only half the crew – and that can really put us in a tight spot!

Occasionally, situations such as people falling ill may arise, necessitating changes or adjustments in our projects. At times, we may become overly absorbed or overeager about a specific aspect, neglecting other crucial tasks which get postponed as a result.

Fortunately, his fate lies with the fans now, and exciting developments are on the horizon. In the upcoming months, both Unika from Dual Rulers and Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunner will enter the arena, as part of a bold schedule. In our earlier conversation with Ken Miyauchi, Guilty Gear Strive’s producer, it was disclosed that players were initially going to get Ciri from The Witcher, rather than Lucy.
