Varun Dhawan, Samantha’s Prime Video Spy Thriller ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ From Russo Bros, Raj & DK Unveils Trailer (EXCLUSIVE)

As a die-hard fan of action-packed dramas and a connoisseur of Indian cinema, I can hardly contain my excitement for “Citadel: Honey Bunny”! With Varun Dhawan and Samantha at the helm, under the visionary direction of Raj & DK, this series promises to be an exhilarating blend of espionage, drama, and high-octane action.

Amazon’s Prime Video recently released a thrilling preview for “Citadel: Honey Bunny,” the Indian addition to the “Citadel” espionage series. This production features Varun Dhawan and Samantha in leading roles.

In this show, the acclaimed team of Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK (commonly known as Raj & DK) take charge as both showrunners and directors. The script was jointly penned by Sita R. Menon together with Raj & DK. Their popular “The Family Man” spy series, which featured Samantha in its second season and became a massive success on Prime Video, is what they’re known for.

The global debut of the series is scheduled for November 7th, which has been jointly produced by D2R Films (headed by Raj & DK), Amazon MGM Studios, and AGBO, a production company owned by the Russo brothers. Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Scott Nemes from AGBO, along with David Weil, serve as executive producers for “Citadel: Honey Bunny” and all other series within the global “Citadel” franchise.

In the 1990s, this series narrates the story of stuntman Bunny (Dhawan) and actress Honey (Samantha), who find themselves caught up in a web of espionage. The ensemble features Kay Kay Menon, Simran, and Saqib Saleem.

Raj & DK stated that ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’ is a groundbreaking project for us because it allows us to join a grand, uncharted realm of spies and espionage that hasn’t been explored before. Previously, we’ve produced all our projects individually, but with ‘Citadel: Honey Bunny’, this is our debut collaboration. What makes this experience particularly rewarding is working alongside creative giants like the Russo Brothers, as well as an array of gifted filmmakers and creators worldwide.

Nikhil Madhok, who leads the original content at Amazon Prime Video India, stated that “Raj & DK have infused their unique humor and allure into this exhilarating spy thriller, creating an entirely fresh, pulse-pounding experience for our viewers.

Dhawan mentioned that playing Bunny is unlike any other character he’s portrayed in the past. Being a spy, this role demanded more than just a dual existence; each facet of Bunny’s personality had two contrasting aspects which added an element of excitement for him as an actor. This complex character required Dhawan to draw upon a mix of experiences and characters he’s previously played, and also prepare mentally and physically for the demanding stunts and intense action sequences. As a result, this performance proved to be one of his most challenging roles so far.

Samantha commented: “I was attracted to this project by the chance to star in an exciting movie with a compelling plot, well-developed characters, and high-octane action scenes that rival those from around the world. Additionally, I’m looking forward to contributing to this series of interconnected spy stories. The hard work and dedication needed to create Honey have left a deep impression on me, professionally and personally, making it one of my most meaningful roles yet in my career.

The title “Citadel: Honey Bunny” continues the popularity of the original “Citadel” series featuring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, which ranked as Prime Video’s second most-watched new original series outside the U.S. This franchise also includes an Italian spinoff, “Citadel: Diana,” with additional international adaptations on the horizon.
