In the realm of stardom, Vanna White stands out exceptionally, with very few others in the entertainment industry sharing her status. A constant presence on the TV schedule for 2025, she’s been a symbol of game shows for over four decades. Her career began with a movie produced by Troma, and in 2013, she was honored as a Guinness World Record holder for having clapped approximately 3.4 million times during the first 30 seasons. Vanna is a living legend, but even she gets starstruck occasionally.
Over the years, I’ve been a part of nearly 8,000 episodes of Wheel of Fortune, including some celebrity editions, making me no stranger to rubbing shoulders with famous personalities from various fields. As you can imagine, the stars who left me in a state of awe were not only charismatic but also exceptionally talented. Recently, I had the pleasure of sharing my most memorable encounters with Closer Weekly, and here’s what I had to say:
I was utterly awestruck upon encountering Stevie Wonder. As I sat comfortably in a makeup chair, he gracefully entered the room, leaving me speechless and exclaiming, “Wow! That’s Stevie Wonder!
It remains uncertain where this remarkable encounter between them would have transpired, seeing as Stevie Wonder was not a regular contestant on Wheel of Fortune and I’m aware that she hasn’t collaborated with him musically. Nevertheless, it’s true that she has released a Christmas album, which Ryan Seacrest utilized in a sweet prank during the holiday season.
Vanna White recently mentioned two more celebrities who left her speechless, and their charm resonates with her humble disposition. In her own words:
Another person was Mr. Rogers – he was incredibly kind and gentle. One more person I should mention is Mickey Mantle.
Even if you have no interest or knowledge about baseball whatsoever, it would still be significant to encounter Mickey Mantle, a legendary athlete who is widely recognized as one of the greatest of all time.
Similarly inspiring, although in different forms, is Fred Rogers from the beloved show “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.” Even long after his passing, he continues to shine as a symbol of empathy and courtesy.
After observing countless participants pass through the stage of Wheel of Fortune, Vanna White understands well how many people can become extremely anxious about appearing on television. In fact, she often provides encouraging words to new contestants as they arrive, much like someone who’s starstruck by Mr. Rogers might do.
For Vanna to suggest that I buy vowels would drive me up the wall. In the video below, viewers can catch a glimpse of Pat and Vanna recalling the time they hosted Mr. Rogers on their show when it was recorded in his birthplace, Pittsburgh.
It’s hard to say for sure, but it’s likely that many people have been left awestruck when they’ve seen Vanna White in person during a “Wheel of Fortune” recording session. This is because each stunning dress she wears during taping will never be repeated in another episode, even if she occasionally dons the same shoes.
Wheel of Fortune airs weeknights in syndication.
