As Sue Storm in my Marvel Cinematic Universe debut with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, I’ve barely set foot in this world, yet my mind is already racing towards what lies ahead. There’s a certain character I can’t help but yearn to embody next – if given the chance, I’d gladly trade identities with her in heartbeat!

The Marvel’s First Family has left a considerable impression since their debut in cinemas on July 25. Not only have they garnered exceptional reviews, with our pick naming it as the top Fantastic Four film ever made, but they also managed to collect an impressive $218 million during their first weekend at the box office.

In this tale, Kirby’s Invisible Woman, Reed Richards (portrayed by Pedro Pascal), Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) work together to protect Earth-828 against the destructive force of Galactus, a planet devourer, and his accomplice, Silver Surfer (played by Julia Garner).

In the mid-credits scene of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” we get a sneak peek at “Avengers: Doomsday.” However, Jack Kirby, a key Marvel figure, has his fingers crossed for the appearance of another Marvel character in the upcoming films.

Vanessa Kirby wants to play Sue Storm’s alter-ego Malice in the MCU

The actress expressed her desire to bring Sue Storm’s villainous counterpart, Malice, into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In an interview with Variety, she stated, “I can’t wait to play Malice.

Malice, a sinister character, made its debut in 1985’s Fantastic Four #280 within the comics. In this issue, the antagonist Psycho-Man manipulated Sue’s feelings, transforming her into a cruel and violent version of herself. This transformed Sue came close to eliminating the entire Fantastic Four team. However, it is Sue’s history that has Kirby captivated.

Originally hailing from a challenging upbringing, she experienced a tragic loss when her mother passed away in a car accident. Her father, attempting to save her mother, was unsuccessful. Overwhelmed with grief, he fell into alcoholism, ended up serving time in prison for killing a loan shark, and ultimately lost his life as well.

Sue took on the role of Johnny’s mother as they were both orphans, having to fend for themselves. Despite their circumstances, she chose a life that was fundamentally good. Instead of hardening her heart, she opted to keep it open and maintain its warmth.

Yet, should Sue succumb to corruption, her abilities might transform her into one of the potentially deadliest supervillains, as evidenced by a cut scene from The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

In one of the scenes, there used to be a line featuring Mole Man. He was quoted as saying something similar to, ‘I could burst your blood vessel instantly if I chose to do so within no time,’ according to Kirby’s explanation.

Sue often warns with a menacing tone in the comics: ‘I can construct a force field to burst your brain, inducing an aneurysm. I can insert an air bubble into your system that would result in your instant demise.’)

These powers possess immense potential, both beneficial and harmful. However, these four entities have decided to use their abilities to foster unity worldwide rather than causing chaos. Yet, they retain the capacity to create havoc if they so choose. I find the idea of choice intriguing; it’s not just about being superheroes, but about making a conscious decision to act for the greater good.

She’s taken this step, yet within her grasp lies potential danger. The situation seemed incredibly authentic, as though even one with noble intentions can harbor, as we all do, both light and darkness.”

“Her action holds hidden peril; the line between good and evil within her is thin, as it is for us all.

Kirby openly acknowledges her fondness for “Sue” characters, which is just one of several factors that make her an ideal fit for the part.

Her character was incredibly symbolic, nicknamed the Invisible Girl. However, Psycho-Man entered the scene and caused chaos, leading to a confrontation with her own sinister self, known as Malice,” she explained instead.

As I return to the game, I decide to rename my character Invisible Woman, marking a transformation from a gamer girl to a mature woman. Encountering the challenging aspects of Malice resonated deeply with me, striking a chord about facing one’s inner hardships.

“I’m really hopeful I might be allowed to be Malice at some point for her.”
