Valorant streamer ShahZaM sent violent threats after calling out gamblers on ranked matches

Notable Valorant broadcaster and ex-pro player ShahZaM (Shahzeeb Khan) faced intimidating text messages following his remarks on suspected betting manipulation linked with his ranked gameplay.

Through a string of tweets, ShahZaM claimed that illicit gambling on high-tier Valorant tournaments has been prevalent for a considerable time. He also suggested that certain players intentionally rig the results of games by purchasing accounts specifically for match-fixing, which they then proceed to lose deliberately. According to ShahZaM, his consistent complaints about this issue to Riot Games have so far fallen on deaf ears.

For several years, we’ve been reporting unscrupulous ranked games on betting sites to Riot, but so far, they haven’t taken any action. This has led to a situation where people are purchasing accounts just to lose (throw) games for betting purposes. This was shared on platform X.

ShahZaM acknowledged that one of his games was being wagered on and discussed the predicament during a live stream. Not long after, he started receiving a string of menacing text messages. One message contained: “Hey ShahZaM, if you don’t start fixing this game, I will take out loans in your name. Your social security number is [blanked out].

In a more straightforward discussion, we’ve been encountering issues with ranked matches on betting sites for quite some time now. We’ve reported this to Riot Games, but they haven’t taken any action until recently. It appears that individuals are purchasing accounts specifically to intentionally lose our games as part of these bets.

A different way of expressing this could be: “The message warned, ‘If you don’t heed my advice and continue speaking during your live broadcast, a group of four armed men with AR-15 rifles will be waiting for you at your doorstep. They are currently stationed outside monitoring the situation.’

The individual aimed to frighten ShahZaM by suggesting they possessed private details about him and making violent threats. However, ShahZaM chose to make those messages public without disclosing if he reported the matter to law enforcement or Riot Games’ security department.

The event has sparked worries among Valorant enthusiasts about the safety of prominent players and the persistence of unauthorized betting platforms connected to real-time ranked competitions. So far, Riot Games has remained silent on the issue.
