Valorant star TenZ explains why he left Sentinels after 4 years

Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo, a prominent player in the game Valorant, has shared reasons behind the termination of his four-year association with the team Sentinels.

Over the years, I’ve seen some esports players who are practically synonymous with their teams. For me, s1mple just feels like Natus Vincere, it’s hard to imagine him wearing any other jersey. Shroud and n0thing were the backbone of Cloud9, and Scump is OpTic Gaming, if you ask me.

Following his signing with Sentinels in 2021, TenZ was also placed among the top teams. He came on board with a substantial transfer fee, steered the squad to numerous Valorant Masters championships, and established himself as the formidable team to beat in the United States.

Though TenZ was expected to remain with Sentinels even after his retirement in September 2024, primarily focusing on content creation, it appears that things have changed. As of May 8, TenZ announced that he is no longer under contract with the team.

TenZ speaks on leaving Sentinels after 4-year stint

In simpler terms, “TenZ stated on his May 8 live stream that he is no longer contractually bound to Sentinels. He acknowledged that this news might be surprising to some. Essentially, they’re moving forward and starting a new chapter together.

Clearly, throughout my time with Valorant, Sentinels has felt like an integral part of my family. Some of the most cherished moments of my gaming career have been spent at Sentinels. We’ve managed to win a few trophies, which I consider quite impressive. Despite any changes, we will always carry the Sentinels pride with us.

He mentioned that he’ll stand by them no matter what, whether it’s the players or the organization. He still has his office keys, so they can continue creating content together. It’s all good, it’s a fresh start, undeniably.

TenZ reminisces about his time with Sentinels, saying they’ve been like family throughout his Valorant journey. He’s made some incredible memories there… it’s a fresh chapter in the book for him now.

The live-streamer was asked if he plans to continue streaming alone for a while, however, he hinted that there are some “truly thrilling projects” he’s currently working on.

“Some very, very exciting stuff. We’ll see that then, but for now, solo dolo,” he concluded.
