The visual transformations between the remaster and original are unquestionably significant, and some argue that it shouldn’t be simply called a remaster because the changes go much deeper, such as an updated leveling system. To maneuver through this world, we have a map available, however, upon activation, it may omit crucial details in our immediate area. Fortunately, it is feasible to open a local map displaying all essential information, and here’s how you can do that.

How to use local map in TES Oblivion Remastered

In the meantime, as Bethesda’s main office focuses on The Elder Scrolls VI, a studio called Virtuous (based in Singapore) is refining the original TES: Oblivion to create a remaster that stands tall against contemporary games. The developers have chosen to keep the production largely faithful to the original, preserving both its strengths and weaknesses. However, some mechanics may perplex newcomers. For instance, navigating Cyrodill is facilitated by an in-game map featuring two levels – global and local. How do you toggle between these?

From a fan’s perspective, it’s quite intuitive nowadays in gaming standards, as all you need to do is simply scroll down (or zoom in) on the map until you reach a point where it switches to local mode. You can identify this change by looking at the scrollbar on the right side of the map menu, where the dots closest to the end indicate the local mode, while the line represents the global stage of the zoom.
