Unmasking Sam: 3 Shocking Theories That Will Rock The Way Home Season 4!

Towards the climax of The Way Home Season 3, there were doubts about Sam’s true identity. It’s clear that he is no longer a Bishop, but rather, who does he truly represent? Beware, spoilers are on the horizon!

At the end of The Way Home, the last letters for Del are spread on the table, including one from Jacob. Jacob expresses concern that by vanishing, the letters might cease, as he doesn’t wish to endanger his family. Meanwhile, a call comes in from Sam, informing Del that Jacob has departed.

Sam reassures me with a confident tone, “Don’t worry, everything will be alright.” As the scene shifts to him standing by the serene pond, I ask, “But how can you be so sure, Sam?” To which he responds mysteriously, gazing at the water, “I simply… have faith.

It’s important to note that this theory suggests not only is it assumed that Sam can travel through time, but also that the character we know as Sam might not actually be who we think they are. Have I made myself clear? The popular TV series hints at a surprising revelation coming up in Season 4, and while we wait, there are three plausible possibilities to ponder over.

Sam is really older Jacob in The Way Home

It’s plausible that Sam is actually Jacob from a later time period, considering the established rules of our pond state that time travel is only possible towards the past. If Sam has the ability to time travel, then he must indeed be from a future timeline.

Currently, no one seems to match Sam’s age perfectly. If Casey is said to be someone’s present-day offspring, then it would logically imply that Sam represents an older version of that person as they grew up. Unless Elliot has developed the ability to travel through time independently (which you should recall was done by Jacob), this narrows down the possibilities significantly, suggesting that only Sam could be the one.

There seems to be a small problem, however. In Season 3, Sam is portrayed as Del’s unofficial boyfriend, having been in a clandestine relationship for approximately six months prior. If the characters were involved in an intimate way, it would conflict with the content standards that Hallmark typically avoids.

Instead, all we can do is propose that they were together as companions. Del’s demeanor has always appeared stormy whenever we’ve encountered her, which suggests that their relationship might not be passionate.

Sam Bishop is really Samuel Augustine

Beyond the Landrys and Goodwins, the Augustines also hold significant importance within “The Way Home”. In the 1800s, we encounter Susanna Augustine, whereas Elliot is a contemporary relative. However, a new Augustine character appears to have entered the storyline as well.

It’s purely speculation based on clever wordplay. Creators often give their characters subtle names that reference other things, including real people. The presence of ‘Augustine’ in this context might be a nod to the Church of St. Augustine, where this saint served as a bishop. Can you see the connection I’m making?

It’s clear there are questions regarding the pond’s usage and whether Sam has access to it. However, all we have is him gazing at it in a mysterious way, which might suggest he knows secrets about other time travelers, but it’s also possible he’s just informed. Although this is our least solid lead, it’s not entirely implausible.

He’s another Landry brought in to bring Del down

To journey through time via the pond, one must be a Landry. If Sam isn’t Jacob, there’s a chance he could be a direct descendant of the Landrys. Sam and Del might evoke memories of another well-known tale – Samson and Delilah. (Note: This reference is to the biblical story, not the movie or play.)

Should your familiarity with religious history be lacking, allow me to provide a summary. Samson, from birth, was designated by God for a unique mission, and he possessed extraordinary strength as a result of divine favor. Upon reaching maturity, Samson found himself smitten by a woman named Delilah who managed to persuade him to reveal the secret behind his prodigious power, which she subsequently betrayed to his adversaries, the Philistines.

Samson’s power stemmed from never having his hair trimmed or shaved. However, Delilah cut off his hair, and she summoned his adversaries to assault him. They captured Samson, blinded him by removing his eyes, and then led him to their temple as an offering to their deity.

In a final plea, Samson requested to be positioned close to the supporting columns of the temple. With his last breath, he called upon God for power, a request that was granted. Utilizing the strength now returned to him, Samson violently knocked down the pillars, causing both his own demise and the deaths of numerous Philistines in the process.

Is it possible that Sam is being used as a distraction to frame Del in Season 4, or could he simply be a misleading clue? At this point, we’re unsure of who penned the letters… I’m just throwing that out there.
