Unlock Rewards with New Discord Mobile Ads: It’s Not So Bad!

On their mobile application, Discord is introducing video quests, which were previously found in their desktop version’s sponsored advertisements.

In the month of April 2024, Discord introduced a novel sponsored quest option within their desktop application. This feature enables users to accomplish unique missions and be rewarded for doing so.

Users of the well-known messaging platform quickly expressed disapproval when ads in the form of quests started showing up at the bottom of their screens.

Discord announced on March 20th that they will be introducing sponsored quests to their mobile platform by June 2025.

Discord is launching ads on mobile

As reported by The Verge, Discord plans to introduce Video Quests on their mobile app in June 2025. This feature enables users to collect prizes such as avatar customizations and in-app goods simply by viewing videos.

The Notification, positioned at the screen’s base, can be either ignored or clicked to access the exclusive Quest section. This area will showcase a video promoting the chosen game, with Brawl Stars serving as the sample game granting a complimentary Discord profile customization item upon completion of the quest.

“Peter Sellis, the product lead at Discord, stated that moving our advertising platform onto mobile devices feels like a sensible and natural step in our strategy.

Our goal is to establish an ad platform that offers the most genuine, player-focused experience across the cosmos. This growth will open up Discord’s actively engaged, multi-platform mobile user base to brand partners, thereby providing businesses with fresh chances to connect with our community in impactful and efficient manners.

This development follows shortly after Discord introduced a novel ‘mute’ function, enabling users to suppress messages from individuals they prefer not to interact with extensively, without resorting to an all-out block.
