Unlock Dynamax & Gigantamax Powers: Pokemon Go’s Might and Mastery Season Unveiled!

Niantic has officially announced that the upcoming season for Pokemon Go is titled “Might and Mastery” and centers around Pokemon with combat abilities. Here’s a rundown of what players can anticipate: new arrivals, swaps, and special rewards.

Just like every season brings change, Pokemon Go will be filled with fresh Pokemon in various shapes, including Dynamax and Gigantamax forms, along with exciting events, benefits, prizes, and countless other enjoyable activities for trainers to experience.

For this upcoming season, we’ll be spotlighting Fighting-type Pokémon. The star attractions will be Urshifu and Machamp, along with the Legendary Beasts: Raikou, Entei, and Suicune. Make sure to stay informed about all the details of the Might and Mastery season to keep up with the action!

Pokemon Go Might and Mastery season: Dates & time

00 AM local time, until June 3rd, 2025, also at 10:00 AM local time.

The events that unfold here are a direct continuation of the Dual Destiny season, which unveiled brand-new Dynamax and Gigantamax transformations, and also marked the first appearance of the Legendary duo, Black and White Kyurem.

Kubfu & Urshifu debut

This upcoming season in the Might and Mastery series is bringing even more exciting new Pokemon to Niantic’s game, including the long-awaited Generation 8 Legendaries – Kubfu and its evolved form, Urshifu, will make their first appearance.

Furthermore, you’ll find that both versions of Urshifu – “Single Kick” and “Rapid Attack” – are accessible, allowing players to pick their preferred style.

Additionally, more Galar Pokemon will be added, including Nickit and Thievul.

Dynamax Urshifu & Legendary Beasts debut

This season, even larger Pokemon are joining the game! Players can obtain not just one but two versions of Urshifu, each with their Dynamax forms, during this time.

In addition to the Legendary Beasts – Raikou, Entei, and Suicune – making an appearance as Dynamax Pokémon, there’s plenty more for players to chase after!

Gigantamax Machamp debut

In upcoming seasons, we’ll witness the debut of Gigantamax for the first time, specifically with Machamp adopting this unique form during 6-Star Max Battles.

It’s possible that, similar to how Gigantamax Kingler and Gigantamax Lapras entered the game during their specific Max Battle Days, Gigantamax Machamp could also make an appearance in a similar way.

Special Research

From March 5, 2025, 10:00 AM onwards until June 3, 2025, at 9:59 AM local time, players will have the opportunity to obtain the Might and Mastery Special Research, allowing them to encounter Dynamax Kubfu and other exciting elements.

As you progress through the season, fresh aspects of the Research will become available, so be sure to monitor your advancements for some exciting discoveries.

Paid Special Research – A Second Path

For a fee of $8 USD (or its equivalent in your local currency), you can access an exclusive Research project that grants additional Dynamax Kubfu encounters to trainers.

The tasks are flexible and can be accomplished anytime, but purchasing a ticket for the Paid Special Research during the period from March 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM to March 10, 2025, at 8:00 PM (local time) is only available.

Power Up Ticket

In the period known as Might and Mastery, players have the opportunity to acquire a special item called a Boost Ticket. This ticket will enhance their gaming experience over the next three months by offering perks such as earning an extra large quantity of Candy when participating in Raids and Max Battles.

Through conducting Field Research, players will gain access to Research Breakthroughs that may include an encounter with one of these Pokémon:

  • Increased friendship bonus damage dealt by Pokemon in Raids.
  • Trainers Level 31 (oh higher) will get one guaranteed Rare Candy XL when defeating a 5-Star Raid Boss during a Raid Hour.
  • Trainers Level 31 (or higher) will get one guaranteed Candy XL when trading Pokemon.
  • Increased Stardust for the first catch of the day.
