As a movie reviewer, I’m thrilled to share that Unifrance has revealed an impressive lineup for the 15th edition of Series Mania, taking place from March 21st to the 28th. This year, get ready to indulge in a smorgasbord of 48 series hailing from 20 different nations! Among them are no less than 22 captivating French productions that are sure to delight both casual TV viewers and industry experts alike. Stay tuned for a fascinating journey through the world of television!

The industrial segment of the Series Mania Forum, taking place from March 25th to 27th, is set to accommodate over 4,200 professionals hailing from more than 70 nations worldwide. In this gathering, Unifrance will be hosting the tenth edition of “Coming Next from France” on March 25th, showcasing five promising new French series destined to create a stir in international markets. Among these selected series are “Kitchen Hustle,” produced by France TV, “Fake” from Have a Good One, “Don’t Know” by Mediawan Rights, “Montmartre” from Newen Content, and “Jailbreakers” by Oble. These shows have been chosen to highlight the richness of ideas and groundbreaking creativity in French scripted television.

Made by CG Cinema, the series “Kitchen Hustle” revolves around three women who aspire to work in upscale restaurants but find themselves faced with a snobbish, sexist, and harmful work environment. On the other hand, in the Good Cop’s show “Fake,” Victoria, a medical secretary and graphic designer, finds herself resorting to illegal activities when her family falls into severe debt. Using her innate ability for forgery, she starts producing counterfeit paper.

“3e Œil Story’s ‘Don’t Know’ unfolds during a school trip that turns into a terrifying ordeal as a girl mysteriously vanishes. On the other hand, ‘Montmartre’, from Banijay’s Authentic Prod, is a gripping period tale set in the 19th century, revolving around a cancan dancer on a quest to uncover her father’s murder. Lastly, Le Méredienne’s ‘Jailbreakers’ follows the story of a 17-year-old girl searching for her mother within the walls of a juvenile detention center, where she infiltrates a gang of inmates planning an escape.

2023 has seen French dramas maintain their global prominence, as exports surged to a value of approximately €74.5 million ($77.8 million), marking a notable increase compared to the average of the past decade (€54.9 million or $57.3 million). For the second year in a row, scripted dramas remain the primary revenue generator, contributing 36.6% towards total sales.

Unifrance’s involvement at Series Mania transcends just the screen. The group is set to collaborate with Series Mania Forum, hosting welcome cocktails on March 24th to inaugurate the professional gatherings with a global touch. Moreover, Unifrance will offer its members an exclusive area within the Business Lounge for networking and business discussions.

Throughout the entire festival, French shows will play a significant role, spanning from the Opening and Closing events to the International Competition, Panorama, and beyond.
