Ultimate Twist Revealed: Shocking ‘White Lotus’ Theories for Season3 Finale!

Our group’s trip to Thailand is set to conclude on Sunday, marking the unfortunate end to someone’s life there.

In the final episode of “The White Lotus,” created by Mike White, many lingering queries are set to be resolved and clarified, marking a significant conclusion for the show’s third season.

As a cinephile, I’m eagerly pondering these questions: Who is the mystery figure face-down in the hotel pond? Who was behind those ominous gunshots at the start of the season? Will Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) accept Greg’s (Jon Gries) proposal? Will Timothy (Jason Isaacs) succumb to the shadows, potentially pulling Victoria (Parker Posey) and their son Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) into the abyss with him? Lastly, will Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) manage to achieve her Thailand dream, and will Lochlan (Sam Nivola) effectively connect there?

Will Sritala’s bodyguards take action against Rick and Chelsea, since he harassed Jim Hollinger so aggressively? Will Gaitok investigate the Russians, as he discovers they were involved in the hotel robbery, and will he earn Mook’s trust by doing so? Will Jaclyn, Kate, and Laurie resolve their differences and spend one last harmonious day on vacation together?

In what follows, the author, EbMaster, delves into some intriguing (and not so widely known) speculations about the final episode of “White Lotus” Season 3. The author assesses the probability of each theory being true.

EbMaster shares some fascinating and unconventional hypotheses concerning the upcoming finale of “White Lotus” Season 3, evaluating their likelihood in this discussion.

    Chekhov’s fruit

In the opening episode of the season, a hotel employee alerts the Ratliff family about a toxic tree bearing fruit near their villa. Although this fruit isn’t related to the gunshots heard at the start of the series, it could lead to another fatality within the Ratliff family. A sneak peek of the final episode released by HBO hints that Timothy removes the fruit from the tree as the employee warns him that locals refer to it as the “suicide tree.” With Timothy struggling with suicidal thoughts since discovering his office was raided for financial crimes, this could be a deadly temptation. However, Timothy has also harbored dark fantasies about harming his family to shield them from an unpleasant life. The teaser focuses on Saxon’s blender, which he uses to make protein shakes. It remains unclear if Timothy will concoct a harmful drink and offer it to his family, who are unaware of his impending troubles, or if Saxon, concerned about the future of their family business, might choose to consume the fruit himself. Given “The White Lotus’s” portrayal of the wealthy, there’s a chance that Timothy manages to avoid consequences, but not before Saxon is drawn to the dangerous fruit.

It’s becoming quite apparent now, and I don’t think White goes for the predictable. Somehow, either Timothy or Saxon is going to concoct a deadly brew, but none of them seem inclined to take a sip of it. It’ll be intriguing to see how this unfolds!

    Belinda counters

In nearly the final episode, Greg proposes giving Belinda $100,000 to keep quiet about his involvement in Tanya’s (Jennifer Coolidge) murder. He fears she knows the truth and wants a peaceful life in Thailand for the remainder of his years. Zion, Belinda’s son, suggests she should not betray him, as Greg might retaliate if she doesn’t. However, Belinda is a woman of integrity, making it doubtful that she would strike a deal with the devil. Despite her fear of various reptiles in Thailand, it could be interesting to see her stand firm against the most dangerous creature – Greg. If she does, she might leave Thailand with $1 million instead of a clear conscience. Of course, there’s always the possibility that one of them might end up dead, but Belinda lacks the inclination for violence, and if Greg wanted her gone, he would have already acted on it.

It seems essential for a change in the Belinda-Greg dynamic: Given that it’s rather improbable for White to reintroduce these characters only for their conflict to quickly dissipate, there might be an opportunity to shake things up. In this series, which often explores gray areas of morality, Belinda has been the embodiment of purity. It could make for an intriguing finale if she were to stray from her path, even momentarily.

    Bodyguards kill Rick

Ever since I was a child, vengeance against the man who took my father’s life has haunted me relentlessly. However, when the opportunity to exact that revenge finally surfaced, I found myself unable to proceed. Instead, I held Jim at gunpoint and tipped over my chair. The closing scene of Episode 7 hints at a newfound tranquility within me. Perhaps I return to Chelsea, seeking contentment, or maybe even happiness with her. However, Jim’s bodyguards relentlessly pursued me back to the resort and attacked me for attacking their boss. A fierce shootout erupted, ultimately leading to my demise.

Probability of occurrence: Given that Sritala knows Rick is vacationing at the resort with his girlfriend, it makes perfect sense that she might dispatch her security personnel there, considering his deceit and assault on her spouse, in an attempt to locate him.

    Jim, you are the father

Rick’s real purpose for journeying to Thailand becomes clearer as the season progresses, when he confides in Chelsea that he’s seeking out Jim, a man his mother claimed – on her deathbed – had murdered his father. “My father was here trying to do what was right,” he explains to Chelsea. “One day, he vanished – and they never found him.” However, did Rick’s father actually meet with harm?

Prior to aiming a gun at Jim in the penultimate episode, Rick scrutinizes various photos of a young Jim and it’s hard not to notice their striking similarity. Rick then brings up his mother’s name, Gloria Hatchett, but Jim seems bewildered rather than realizing that this is the name of the widow of the man he had killed many years ago. Instead, Jim seems puzzled when Rick accuses him of having Gloria’s husband killed “because of some land deal or nonsense,” hinting at the possibility that Jim could be Rick’s father. The actors’ resemblance to each other doesn’t go unnoticed in this situation…

As a movie buff pondering over a captivating plotline, I can’t help but wonder about the life of Jim. Was it that he left Rick and his mother behind, eventually tying the knot with Sritala in Thailand and starting an entirely new chapter? Or perhaps there was an indiscretion that led him to sever ties with Rick’s mother altogether? It’s conceivable that he might not have been aware of his son’s existence. The tale Rick’s mother shared about his father’s demise, a tale seeking retribution against Jim posthumously, could it be a fabrication, a cleverly woven narrative designed to seek justice?

Probability: We believe it’s quite high. You should know that Rick never knew his father (as he was always told his father had passed away before he was born), and his mother sadly succumbed to drug addiction when Rick was only 10 years old. It’s quite possible she didn’t keep any pictures of the man who supposedly wronged her.

Gaitok goes Scarface on the Russians

Throughout this entire season, poor Gaitok has found himself friend-zoned and subtly undermined by his work colleague and crush, Mook, who seems more captivated by the hotel owner’s bodyguards, with their impressive firearms and jet-setting lifestyle, than by Gaitok, who essentially acts as a mall security guard. In the latest episode, Gaitok expresses to Mook, “I strive never to harm anyone,” due to the Buddha’s disapproval of violence. However, later, while watching a Muay Thai fight, Mook argues that fighting is an inherent human instinct. As they observe Valentin (Arnas Fedaravičius) and his Russian companions, Mook deduces that they are the culprits behind the hotel jewelry store robbery. To safeguard the resort and potentially win Mook’s approval, Gaitok might take on the Russians, leading to a confrontation that could escalate into gunfire (explaining the multiple gunshots heard). All those hours spent at the shooting range can’t possibly have been wasted.

Plausibility of the event: Given Gaitok’s intense desire for Mook’s respect, this scenario appears credible. However, it could potentially be too foreseeable to White, leading one to wonder if it’s worth considering?

    Boy in red

In Episode 2, Lochlan is seen lounging in ocean hammocks with his sister Piper while donning a red swimsuit. Later, he displays a video depicting a man in a red swimsuit being carried away by a tsunami in Thailand to the Ratliff family. The series “The White Lotus” frequently employs clothing as a representation of a character’s intentions or destiny. In the final episode of Season 2, Tanya wore a floral dress reminiscent of one displayed on a mannequin at a “Godfather” filming location in Sicily. This mannequin symbolized Apollonia (Simonetta Stefanelli), Michael Corleone’s wife, who met a tragic end in a car explosion. The same floral dress was the one Tanya wore before she plunged to her death from a yacht. Therefore, Lochlan’s red swimsuit might hint at him being the corpse floating at the start of this season.

It’s plausible that… Previous instances suggest that elements like clothing may hint at a character’s destiny. So, it wouldn’t be too surprising if this pattern were to occur once more.

    ‘Bad luck comes in threes’

After going through two close brushes with death in Thailand, every word that comes out of Chelsea’s mouth seems even more significant. The first instance was when a masked individual pointed a gun at her during a robbery at the resort’s souvenir shop. The second occurrence took place at a snake show, where a venomous cobra bit her leg as a consequence of an intoxicated Rick inadvertently setting the reptiles free from their enclosures. In Episode 4, Chelsea remarks, “This feels like something straight out of ‘Final Destination.’ It’s as if death is chasing me.

In the third season of “The White Lotus,” the number three appears frequently. We see it in the trio of Ratliff children, the group of girlfriends, and even a threesome of Russians. The number three is also important in Buddhism, where it represents the Three Jewels: the Buddha, the Dharma (the teachings), and the Sangha (the community who follow those teachings).

It was clear from the start that this season would delve into themes like death, Eastern religions, and spirituality, so it’s not surprising that Buddhist elements – as Thailand’s primary religion – could factor into the finale. The recurrence of the number 3 appears to be more than a coincidence and may hint at three deaths (or possibly three perpetrators) by the end. Could Chelsea unknowingly have foretold her own demise through her superstition, making her one of the victims?

Probability of occurrence: The Season 3 premiere displayed just one corpse floating in the water, but the series has not been reluctant to include numerous deaths previously (such as Tanya McQuoid and, as Coolidge described them, the “evil gays” in Season 2). Given the sound of several gunshots, it seems plausible that some attendees or staff may have fallen victim to the ensuing chaos.

    Bad girl Mook

Mook is presented as the compassionate, wide-eyed health advisor at White Lotus in Thailand. Yet, there seems to be a potentially deceitful aspect to her. Throughout the series, she engages with Gaitok, subtly flirting with him in manners that disrupt his work concentration. Whether this is just harmless fun or a calculated strategy is unclear, but Mook might be employing her charm as a means to closely monitor Gaitok and lower his defenses.

In Episode 2, Valentin diverts Gaitok’s attention by discussing a potential Muay Thai match, providing an opportunity for thieves to sneak past the gate and pilfer from the resort’s boutique. When the thieves reappeared at the gate, Gaitok encountered them and was wounded in the process. That evening, Mook went to check on Gaitok to see if he was alright. Was Mook showing kindness or trying to conceal her potential role in the burglary by seeming concerned? It’s possible that Mook is serving as a ‘honeypot’ for the Russians, having informed Valentin about Gaitok’s shift and his interests.

In the Season 3 premiere, Mook persistently urges Gaitok to aim for a promotion within Sritala’s security team, implying it as an opportunity for a superior job. According to Mook, the role of a bodyguard offers the chance to travel and explore the world. She expresses her belief that this could be thrilling for Gaitok. Although it seems like Mook genuinely wants Gaitok to be more career-driven, there’s a possibility that she’s transferring her own aspirations for a better life onto him – aspirations similar to those held by the Russians. Could this hint at another heist involving Mook in the finale, one that would grant her the life she’s always yearned for?

Frequency of occurrence: Mook and Valentin are employed at the same resort, yet their on-screen interactions beyond the Season 3 premiere’s guest welcome and Episode 7’s Muay Thai match are scarce. Their silence towards each other suggests that any off-screen relationship they might have had is improbable to be a plot point saved for the finale, as it seems uncommon for such dynamics to remain unexplored on screen.

    Monkey goes bananas!

Despite whether the poisonous fruit was involved or not, gunfire was heard at the White Lotus hotel – a lot of it. With the camera frequently capturing the shrieking monkeys who roam the resort from the trees, some viewers began spreading a far-fetched theory – that one of these animals somehow got hold of a gun and went on a rampage (a play on words). Those who believe in this ‘monkey truth’ can put their theories to rest, as “The White Lotus” actress Michelle Monaghan confirmed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” that “the monkeys did not commit the crime.

Odds of happening: Let’s trust Monaghan here — these monkeys are a red herring.
