Ubisoft's Iconic Series Set to Return, but Without a Screen Adaptation. The Company Is „Actively Working on Other Exciting Projects” Related to Driver Series

As a longtime fan of the Driver series, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment upon hearing that Ubisoft’s collaboration with streaming platform Binge for a live-action adaptation has come to an end. I still remember the excitement that surged through the community when news of this partnership first broke in 2021. The prospect of seeing our beloved franchise brought to life on the small screen was truly exhilarating, and we were all eagerly anticipating what was to come.

For supporters of the Driver video game franchise, there’s disappointing news. The collaboration between Ubisoft and the streaming platform, Binge, announced in 2021 for creating a live-action adaptation of this beloved series, has unfortunately come to an end. This update was initially shared by Game File, as reported by VGC.

The French company has decided to end its collaboration on a “Driver” series with Binge – announced their spokesperson.

According to Stephen Totilo, a journalist on that particular website, the collaboration between the two firms has ceased reportedly due to the shutdown of the Binge platform.

Disappointed fans may find solace in the fact that Ubisoft is actively developing new and exciting projects for the popular brand. A corporate representative shared that the company is “working diligently” on “upcoming games,” and they are eager to “provide more details soon.” This could potentially mean that instead of a sequel, fans can look forward to an entirely new game in the franchise.

As a longtime fan of the Driver series, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia when I think back to the release of Driver: San Francisco. I remember waiting with bated breath for the latest installment in this iconic racing franchise, which had last seen a major update all the way back in 1999. When Ubisoft finally dropped Driver: San Francisco on us in 2011, I was beyond excited.
